Do any of you shoot the lighter weight and spined arrows with 70 lb. bows? I have a 70 lb razortech and a box of Gold Tip 3555 shafts. I usually shoot with the 5575's, but a friend mentioned that these lighter weight arrows would be great for 3D. I was under the impression that the lighter spined arrows wouldn't fly right out of the higher poundage bows. What have your experiences shown? Would it be worth it to cut and fletch some of the lighter shafts, or do I buy another dozen of the stiffer ones? I wouldnt use them to hunt with--just 3D, if possible. I'm just worried one would blow up in my arm or something.

arrows

Dont just try arrows that are lighter. They have to be spined correctly also. You dont want to risk damaging your equipment for a little extra speed. If you just have to have more speed at least use an ACC or hyperspeed type arrow that spined for a 70lbs. bow. This will also make your bow shoot louder! The real trick is to find a happy medium....I shoot a 60lb.Darton Rampage and i use 7.0 grn arrows. Ive shot 70lb. bows for many years and went to a 60lb. not because i can't pull one,but because with todays bow and arrow combination you can get just as much speed out of a 60lb. and be able to hold better. So arrow choice is a personal preference but just keep in mind what your really trying to accomplish. Will it make you more accurate is the question i always ask before making any changes. When it comes down to it, will speed make you a more accurate 3-d'er? Or maybe just practicing your yardage estimating skills....Hmmmm.

Maybe you guys misunderstood--I really don't care about the speed. I just happen to have like three dozen of the lighter shafts sitting around, and I'm running low on the heavier ones (my darned razortec keeps robin-hooding). I just wanted to know if I'd be ok with the lighter ones. I choose between spending $80 for a new dozen or fletching up a bunch of shafts I already have.

Spine

I would sell the three dozen arrows that are too light here in the classifieds and buy a dozen of the right spine for the bow. Slightly light arrows are sometimes ok but if the arrows are seriously underspined they won't fly right and could even blow up and injure you.
