I have recently switched from an ILF rig to a Tomahawk Longbow and really like shooting this way and love the Tomahawk Longbow. Unbelievably quiet and almost no shock. My only negative on it is the calf's hair rest it came with is about done after just a week and a half and about 1,000 shots. I've got it tuned pretty well and no the arrow is not smacking the shelf. What do you guys recommend for a rest on a long bow with a fairly narrow shelf?

I use velcro and it lasts forever - I usually have to replace when the adhesive wears out and gets brittle after a looooong time. If your rest is wearing out that fast - I suspect it is a tuning issue - try shooting through paper at 6-8 feet and see what type of tears you get.

I'm like you, just got my Tomahawk Diamond Desert Fox about 3 weeks ago and have already "balded" the factory pad from wayyy more shots than I can count.
I bought the same calf hair one from 3 Rivers and am going to change it out this weekend.

When I paper tune at 8 feet I get a high nock no matter where I put the nock point. I start intentionally high and can get it to about a 1 inch tear - nock high, and when I lower the nock point any more the tear starts going up again. When I bare shaft at 20 yards things group well with the bare shafts just slightly right. I am right handed. From what I have researched I should go with the bare shaft evidence. The arrows seem to fly real nice, even and straight.

something is wrong - you should be able to get good tears if your arrows are tuned - you are likely moving your nock locator in too large of increments - sometimes a nock that is too low will tear showing nock high. Here is what my tears looked like a few years and pounds ago:

You are right sharp! I was moving in about 1/8" - 1/16" increments so I went back and got to the 1" nock high tears and then went up just one ring of the serving and voila. Nice tiny holes. Any deviation I am quite sure is me. I think I've got things as good as I'm going to get for now. I love this game:)

great - you will now find that your arrow rests will last a very long time. This is why I believe that bareshafting is rough tuning and the fine tuning is through paper - because the arrow leaves the bow slightly differently when it is fletched.

I live above the funeral home - I am a funeral director - so it doesn't freek me out - the only time i ever got creeped out was the night I watched the movie - The 6th Sense and got a call at 3:00am and had to go down into the dark funeral home with images of that creepy movie in my head - needless to say - I don't watch those kind of movies anymore - ;)
