My son is looking for a used economy hunting bow. He has a 32" dl. Any red flags about the Insanity? Also welcome any other recommendations for long draw bows under $500.

Thanks!!

They are great bows. The only issues that I know are:

The stock limbs that came with them had problems with flaking of the finish, and some 70# limbs had some failures. 60# and under seemed to be ok. If you find one with the original limbs, I'd think that they would be ok at this point. If they were going to fail, they probably would have by now. Bowtech does sell replacement limbs, if you need them.

Also, the CPXL has a very small valley at full draw. If you crept at full draw, the bow wants to shoot. There is a way to fix it. Set the draw stops at your draw length. Then set the modules one step up from there. So if your draw stop is set at number 1, set your modules at number 2. It will give you a very nice valley and makes it very forgiving at full draw.

Another great bow was the Bowtech Boss. Very similar to the CPXL, but they were a couple years newer.

The CPXL is a great bow and if it is in good condition is well worth $500
I did hear of limb issues on the 70# limbs but the 60# limbs and below no issues except for some finish flaking. I personally have never had a single issue with mine.
CPXL is a very nice shooting, smooth drawing and quiet bow.
Specs are perfect 35" AtoA, 7" bh and a 340ibo.
IMO the CPXL was the best bow that Bowtech has made. I own 2 and shoot them a lot with no desire to replace or " upgrade "

Top 2 bowtech bows of all time I personally think the cpxl is.

Yep some limb fails on 70 and in 2014 they came out with the carbon core limbs (I believe they called them) to fix issue.

Limb flaking yes also. Also the guy with the info on valley is correct also especially at long draw settings but it works good as I did that with mine when I shot 31inch draw.

Also as talked about the bowtech boss has great specs for a long draw person also

Also revolt xl to I believe goes out to 32.

I believe you mean the Insanity series of bows made by Bowtech when you mention "Insanity" in relation to a hunting bow. I am not aware of any specifics regarding the Insanity line with a 32-inch DLS screen, though. Pro Diamond Infinite Edge: This versatile bow is well-known for being appropriate for both beginning and intermediate players. It can be adjusted in several ways to suit a variety of sizes and towing capacities.

The cpxl bows are awesome, I have one of those and a sr350 , my opinion it has about the same valley as a sr350 and if the bow is tuned correctly there smooth as glass. As far as speed goes there nipping on the heels of my sr in the speed dept, single digit diffrences. Both 29" dl and 60lbs same arrows. I would get rid of my sr first before I ever sell the Insanity. Of course that is just my thoughts.
