I'm going to tie on a loop for the first time. I need to know what is the length of the loop material before I burn the ends? Also how far apart should I keep the top & bottom knot from each other? Should I use some peep tying material on the knots so that they don't move on me?
Thanks for any help Jeff!

1. Depends, on your nocks and your release. I usaully push one end through over tight and melt it down after it is already on, then tighten that end of the loop and test for fit.
2. Just loose enough for your nock to slip away freely when at tyour full draw string angle.
3. Yes, a small serving knot above the top knot is a good insurance policy.

A good starting point is between 4.5" and 4.75". You can always untie, cut and reburn the end if it is too long, so I wud try the 4.75 first and go down from there. As for with, jsut make sure your nock fits in without any binding between the knots.

I always use a 4.25" loop, but then I like my loops very small with minimal lenght behind the nock. I also shoot a Scoots little goose release which is pretty small jaw.

Just a starting point.

This is a great thread on how to tie a loop if you need. Remember, Archers helping Archers!!
