Just saw a teaser video on the new climber from lwcg. He said a fully detailed video will be released this week and will answer most people’s questions.

Summit HAD made an 18 lb Viper. It was the Elite SD. Made of big round tubes.
I have Two. Summit stopped making them.

Hahaha. I still use my Elite SD. 16lbs. That & the specialist where both decent stands & a great weight.
Probably 2 of there best climbers. That was 2011-2012 or something.
When they discontinued those is when summit started going in pointless directions. Way heavier, bulkier
& more expensive. They seriously need to fire some people & get the ball rolling again. I wouldn't buy any
of there new stands at even half the cost.
I would save up for that LW climber though. The packability looks great. I wonder what the weight will come
in at. Still can really wrap my head around the half moon shape if you want to stand & lean against the tree.
Thinking it might be like the old openshot where the seat folds & acts as a kind of lumbar support.
Can't wait to see more details on this.

I would not buy the LW. Haven’t you seen the recent fracture threads ? It looks like something i would not like, and i can barely understand the dude whos talking.

I can’t imagine the cost to machine the platform from aluminum plate-no wonder they cost so much. They could honestly shave another pound or two if they designed that bottom platform a little different, and if they went with a full mesh seat......but it’s still a pretty slick setup as it is. Definitely the most packable climbing stand on the market.
They need to make that one bolt on the bottom (left side support tube) a left hand thread-it always comes loose on mine after I climb the tree because my boot spins it loose.

The one you're talking about is a cast stand. These new one are machined out of a solid piece of Aluminum... it's not cheap.

Looks good. I like that you can remove the bar. You arent supposed to w the sit n climb although ppl do. My only concern is potential rattle while packing. They said 5lb lighter than hand climber, so approx 12lb

I sold my hand climber 2 about a month ago, I ordered a .75 hang on which I love, but this new climber is about as good as it gets imo though, if you hunt in areas with straight trees and want the lightest setup you can have I don’t think you’ll be able to beat this

yes this… If I can’t replace my bands for next season I will be pretty disappointed.
