took a buck sunday with magnus stinger buzzcut 4 blade 100 gr head.
complete pass through, think hot knife and butter, that deer didn't slow that arrow down at all, and the deer didn't know it was even shot
that was pretty impressive to me.

the exit wound was clogged with some type of bodily material and didn't allow any blood trail after 10 yards, this was bothered me.

deer went about 60 yards total, so it worked, but the lack of blood trail bugged me, i love how straight these fly, its a K.I.S.S type of deal, COC fly straight, easy pass through, and I like that.

any else have issues with lack of blood trail?

shot a nice buck last year with the 4 blade buzzcut, complete pass through, deer went maybe 60-70 yards and I did have a decent blood trail after the first 20 yards. This is my preferred broadhead, They do not go very far with an acceptable shot in any event. Never a problem with lack of penetration which is important to me.

I wanted so much to like these heads. I am in the minority like you that have had little to no blood trail. They fly great and are easy to sharpen. I shot a buck and a doe the first season I tried these. Luckily I saw the approximate area where they went down, as there was no blood trail. The doe was broadside and shot low through both shoulders. She ran 50yd and jumped straight in the air where she crashed. If she didn't jump straight up I may not have seen where she crashed.
The buck was quartering away, shot through ribs and exited low about 5 inches behind shoulder. He ran about 60yd through a foodplot and fell over. There was no bloodtrail and where he lay there was only a quarter-size spot of blood. I then switched heads for the remainder of the season.
Next season rolls around and I make myself try the Buzzcut again, just because they fly so darn good. I shoot a doe perfect behind the shoulders, double lung her ... And again very little blood. Even though I got the end result I wanted (dead deer) there was just no bloodtrail. My stand heights were 15', 17', and 20'.
I know these are a good tough head and I don't bash Magnus, as they put out a good product (I have even taken deer with the Snuffer SS). I no longer shoot the Buzzcut 100.

thanks for your comments, I do have to say though there are so many variables when it comes to blood trails, there is generally something wrong when you don't get a blood trail with the buzzcut 4 blade. crassh one thing you have to consider is your first deer was dead within 50 yds and your second within 60 yds. take a look at these pics we got from successful bowhunters shooting the buzzcut. We normally throughout the year get emails from successful bowhunters on blood trails, for every 10 who say they got a great blood trail we get 1 to 2 who say they don't, most of these are from two blade stinger users, On buzzcuts we get about 1 out of 10 who say they don't get a blood trail and normally these are 2 blade buzzcut users not four blade buzzcut users. Having bowhunted this my 35th year stuff happens. I have used every head we make but my favorite and most used head is the stinger buzzcut 4 blade, out of the 30 plus animals I have taken with them since we come out with the stinger and stinger buzzcut in 2004, I have had a couple where I got a sparse blood trail but still had a blood trail. Most the time though the blood trail is a walk to the deer. Also take a look at the video above of woody Sanford's blood trail with the two blade buzzcut a few years ago. thanks

For those who shoot Magnus, what is the difference in performance between the standard Stinger and the Buzzcut Stinger? Do the extra serrations really translate into greater in the field performance? I'm thinking of adding some Magnus Stingers/Buzzcuts to my broadhead selection, and wanted to know if the Buzzcuts really offered anything over the standard Stinger.

Mike Sohm recommends the buzz cut. There is a debate about this, some think that the stinger without serrations results in greater blood loss because, so goes the theory, the sharp clean cut will cause less clotting. Others think the serrations cause more damage and therefore more blood loss. Probably impossible to prove one way or the other. I have both 4 blade stingers and 4 blade buzzcuts, I use the 4 blade buzzcuts, how do you go against Sohm's recommendation?

The problem I have with blood trails is the darn deer in Kansas are so fat that the fat plugs the holes up. So I have switched to the three blade snuffer from Magnus to make a tri shaped hole. Good sharp blade in a well placed shot and your deer will not be far with or without blood trail.

I have shot 2 deer and an elk with buzz cuts, all good blood trails. The last deer I shot with one was in a downpour, after a short wait, it was still a blood trail you could follow walking full speed. I may go back to them next season

I have been a Stinger/Buzzcut advocate for many years. As stated, there are too many variables when it comes to blood trails. I have killed bear, moose, caribou and many many whitetails with these heads, and what I like is the reliability of the design. They always fly where I aim them, penetration is incredible (saves arrows), and the animal rarely goes out of sight. I can spin check the broadhead, resharpen and put it back in my quiver. If it is bent, send it in and they send you a new one. I have one head that killed a bear, a caribou and three whitetails before I retired it. Doesn't get any better than that. I started with the 4-blade Stingers and now use the 4-blade Buzzcut because Mike says it is better...

Hey Guys-the buzzcut is by far my favorite head out of all the heads we make. the difference is in the chisel serrations, which is like having extra cutting edge, penetration is just as excellent with the buzzcut as with the stinger. The buzzcut does make a bigger hole than the stingers, in all of our testing it shows hands down a bigger hole and better blood trail. I also recommend the 4 blade over the 2 blade again because of bigger holes. We will always take care of our customers if you bend or break a head at any time we will replace it. thanks

The key with any good blood trail is a low exit. If you dont have a low exit the body cavity has to fill up with blood before it starts really bleeding. I love magnus broadheads and I have been shooting them for 14 years. If I didnt believe in them I would switch to another brand.
