Apple Archery has a Basic String Making Video. I make my own strings and i am sure that a number of other archers on here do their own also. It takes a little bit of time to get onto what materials you want to use and how tight to have your serving jig. I learned through trial and error. But is not that hard once you get the hang of it.
I had someone walk me through making a string and I video taped it so that I could use it as a reference as I began to start making strings. Has worked out really well for me. Experience is the best teacher. Have someone show you how to do it.
I was fortunate enough to have Pinkfletch offer up the time and patience to teach me the finer points of string making/craftsmanship. Thanks buddy! And I'm always getting advice and learning more all the time from right here on Archery Talk.
