I am thinking about changing bows and wanted to get feedback on the V3X.

Never shot the V3X but I had a V3 for a couple of months. I bought it because I'd shot Mathews for 20 years and it held good on target. I hated that bow! Draw cycle was stiff, grip sucked, strings sucked, top hats worked okay, but I couldn't get it as dialed in as I can with the Bowtech Deadlock. I picked up a Bowtech and now an Elite and they were much better bows for me. I don't know if the V3X is any different, but I'd go shoot several bows rather than trusting internet opinions.

Man I totally disagree! I love my V3 31! I mean everything about it. It’s fast and smooth and super quiet! Also I like to get the latest bow every couple years and you don’t have to take the big money loss on a Mathews. Everyone is different tho. I do plan on trying the Elite Omnia tho. Hearing great things.

I love the v3x33. I just changed the strings after 9 months with the originals. This bow tuned pretty easy for me and is super accurate for me. The fixed broadheads hit same as field points as far as I can put them.

Here is a two shot group at 40 yards today as I finished off tuning after the string change. It was like this before the string change also.
Annihilator xl aimed at center bull . Next shot I didn’t want to destroy my arrow so I aimed to the right of bull with magnus stinger 125 ( the big blades) and it hit exactly where I wanted. The pic below that is stinger and field point touching and the annihilator xl right next to them from 40 yards.
Everyone’s bow fit each person different, but I would recommend at least looking at the v3x 33 if you are trying out new bows.

my 33 is the best bow i've ever shot, by far! i too switched out the grip to a Torquless grip and really like that. i'm keeping the OEM Zebra strings. i know several guys switch their out to some other aftermarket string, but mine has performed flawlessly. i also opted for all the Mathews bow accessories like stabs and sight and rest, i figured why not, do it right, and the quality of all those products is amazing. i love my V3X and sleep with it every night

I have not had ANY interest in Mathews since I stopped shooting one in 2008. They started getting my attention again with the VXR, but didn't like it enough to buy it....but I didn't buy any bow to be honest, liked other brands better. I shot about 6 brands this past year, and came home with the V3x 33. I have always like Elite and Hoyt better. There is just a LOT to like about the V3x. It is my favorite bow to date(that i have owned...i think the Omnia is better), and I have owned about 100 bows. I still don't shoot it quite as good as my Impusle 34 at long range, but I have just recently changed out stabs, stab weights, and put side plates on, and now it is WAY better. Who ever said it isn't any better than the traverse if full of $h!t, period....not even on the same level. The bow is fantastic. I do think you should shoot as many bows as you can, and don't be one of the idiots who buy a bow just because it says Mathews on it...especially the Omnia...the Omnia craps on anything I have shot to date, including my V3x 33.

So, I just purchased a V3x 29 a couple weeks ago. I was upgrading from a 10 year old Hoyt Vector. Loved the Vector, but it was time to move on. Shot the Ventum Pro 30 and the V3x 29 side-by-side, and there really wasn't a comparison for me. The shot was dead in the hand, the draw cycle was butter smooth all the way to the firm back wall that the Ventum was missing. I took it home that day. It's set up with the QAD ultra, CBE Trek Pro single pin, and a set of CBE Torx stabilizers. Absolutely love the bow. Getting good groups all the way out to 85 yards, which is the farthest I've had it yet. I like it so much that I'm going to set up a V3X 33 for 3D and target shooting. JMHO

I have the 29 and the only thing I would say is there is a dump into the valley with the 85% mods that completely disappears with the 80% mods. I switched mine out and it is a completely different animal. Smooth, fast and the hold on target is beyond anything I have ever had especially from such a short bow. The only negative is the grip. Its super comfortable but it was inconsistent for me. Side plates can be had and do work well. For me I modified the grip on the bow with a Dremel tool and just flattened it a little and voila its works great and still comfy. Just my 2 cents.

I'm not super experienced so take this with a grain of salt. I just bought a V3X 33 off a guy on the classifieds a few weeks back. I've been shooting a PSE Drive NXT for the last year (first bow).

Pros: The V3X holds steady and is dead in the hand/quiet. I like the top hats and mods. Draw cycle is smooth but there is a dump at the end, doesnt both me too much, but I may switch to an 80% let off to see if that cleans it up.

Cons: I feel like to optimize the bow you have to buy new stuff (rest and compatible dovetail in my case).

just put a "high" Torqueless grip on mine and it has a completely different feel, i first tried a "low" Torqueless grip and it felt good but not WOW. most guys don't like a high grip, but coming from the OLY recurve world i love it! try a Torqueless grip, they work, feel great and look beautiful

I have avoided Matthews for years and always shot PSE, Obsession, Xpeditition, APA, and a couple Bowtechs. I am a 31" draw and typically shoot 60-65lbs. When they released the V3x33, I reviewed the specs and it certainly peaked my interest. I went to my local shop I shot it and the Atlas back to back and I was torn. They both held really well and were dead on release. The Atlas was definitely an easier draw but I wound up taking the V3x33 home. It is the nicest most comfortable bow I have ever owned hands down. I'm not a Matthews fanboy but I love that bow and wish I could get an Atlas as well. I will be shooting the SS34 to see how it stacks up against my V3x33 but the 33 won't be going anywhere anytime soon. If you get the V3x33, make sure you leave room in your budget for changing the grip.
