I just got back from my local shop to compare my current Traverse with the V3X 33. Just as a disclaimer, I did this for myself to see how the two bows felt. It was in no way a rigorous review or comparison. Just thought this may help some people decide.
The V3X was set up with just a D-loop and whisker biscuit. My Traverse has the Limbsaver quads on them, a Hamskea peep, D-loop, Mathews Integrate rest, and stabilizer quick connects on. I left the stabilizers off and left the sight off for comparison. The V3X and my Traverse were set at a DL of 27.5" and 60lbs.
The draw cycle of the V3X was almost identical to the Traverse. Just a tad stiffer, but very linear. Not like the SW cams on the V3's or the V3X 29. On those, the hump near the back end is very apparent. On the V3X 33, I did not feel any hump. The back wall was maybe a tad stiffer than the Traverse, but minimally so. The noise and hand shock were identical as far as I could tell at the close range I was shooting. So the V3X is probably a little better bare bow than the Traverse, but for me personally, it didn't make a difference and isn't a big factor for me.
The riser itself is impressively long. I would say it's about 3 inches longer than the Traverse and physically feels like a much larger bow. This may help with accuracy at the range, but there's no way I could compare when shooting at only 10ft.
I test fit my HHA Tournament sight in the V3X and it fit just fine. Very solid. I did not adjust the windage, but from the measurements I made, I would be pretty close to maxing the sight out to the right in order to get my pin to line up. Could be an issue with this particular sight. I didn't want to adjust the windage and ruin my settings, so I did not test this out.
Overall, it was a nice bow. Aesthetically pleasing, easy to shoot. However, the differences in overall experience compared to my Traverse are not big enough for me to want to upgrade. Yes, the new sight system and quiver balances everything a lot better, but the bows are still top heavy and I would run both a front and back bar. The back bar would balance out the bow for me, like on the Traverse, so this benefit isn't a game changer for me.
I also tried the V3X 29 that was kitted out with the new sight and two-piece quiver. It was very nice when it was all put together. Even had a 6" Mathews stabilizer with (I think) 1oz out front. The draw on the bow feels like the other V3's. String angle is too steep for my preference. But it is still a nice bow. Riser length is the same as the Traverse which was interesting.
Hope my experiences today help others decide. I can try to answer any questions if I can. My shop doesn't have a chrono, so I can't say anything about speeds. Interested to see what you all think after trying them too.
