I am doing a research paper in my english class and i decided to do mathews vs hoyt. if you dont shoot either of them pick the one you would if you had to choose. since this is for research the more votes the better. anyone who posts may be quoted in my paper.

I have always shot Mathews, but I have shot a couple Hoyt's at the local shop and if Mathews was to go out of buisness tomorrow I would go with a Hoyt without thinking about it. They are both top of the line bow co. One of the big reasons other than being great bows why I stay with Mathews is because of the way they treated me from my very first Mathews I've purchased. They have oustanding warranty service.

Both are great bows, and very successful companies. With that been said, Hoyt would be my choice only because of a longer history.

Can I ask what exactly is the assignment? I am a little confused to as what you are being asked to write about. I see from your avatar (Mathews) that you have a potentially biased opinion. Maybe the survey is a good idea but how are you going to use the results from this survey? Are you going to state in your paper, "based on a survey created on ArcheryTalk.com members show a 60% preference towards [brand] bows over [brand]"? If your assignment is to actually compare the two bow manufactures you may want to consider the history of each company. Maybe talk about what each company produces. Hoyt produces compound and recurve bows while Mathews only produces compound bows. You have to look at the differences in the brands and not just say for example "Mathew's produces a faster bow than Hoyt so they are better". I could go on with my questioning here but if you could post the actual assignment maybe people could be more helpful. As of right now it seems as if all you are only asking for a response to a survey which is asking which we bow we shoot. When you say that "anyone who post may be quoted in your paper" what kind of post are you expecting?

I am a Hoyt loyalist,but I have nothing against Mathews shooters or Mathews bows, or any other bow manufacturer.Way back 17yrs ago I shot Pro Line bows,and had nothing bad to say then about Hoyts.Its all about how the shooter conducts him or herself as a fellow archer to me.Shoot what you want I dont care,great shooters will shoot the same with what they shoot at the time.Just get along and be friendly towards the opposition.We all doing what we love,and should be glad for that.

as of right now i would take mathews over hoyt. just because i have a short dl and like the extra speed the m6 gives. plus i like the m6

first of all i am sorry that i didnt explain it better in the first post. i was looking at this more like a coke vs pepsi thing than what do you shoot. you nailed it on the stat in the paper. I plan to compare the two companies history and a comparison of the z7 and probably the maxxis 31. for the quotes i just want peoples opinions with reasoning behind them. such as an above poster put that he chose mathews because of the service they have given him since day one. I hope this answers some of the questions, if there are any others ill try to answer them as they come up

If i had to choose on i would choose mathews, because i just dont get alot with cam and a-halfs.

I go with Mathews because I love the product, they put a ton of money in charity, NASP, etc... and have an amazing warranty, resale value, and are as accurate as anything on the market.

with that being said, Hoyt still makes a great product, and if Mathews wasn't around, that is probably what I would shoot.

I also like how there is only one size string and cable set for each bow model with Mathews, where Hoyt's can be different.

I'll say Mathews because I own one currently. I have had plenty of Hoyts over the years though and wouldn't hesitate to buy one again if I liked it. I shop for my bows based on feel and my opinion of the company. Mathews and Hoyt are both top notch companies in my opinion.

Mathews,but Both are great companies and have great warranties and customer service, but in the end its up to the shooter/ consumer.

We are a mathews house.Mainly because my wife and stepson are learning. I because of past experience,excellent product support and knowledgable authorized dealers with people who know what they are doing.
Mostly though because of the way my mathews bows felt in hand,quietness and 0 issues.
Mathews has been the leader in innovation in the compound bow market for some time now.
I will say that I would switch to another brand( I am not a brand person) if I found something better. In my opinion they are a good fit for me but who knows in the future. Thank goodness we have more choices than just black. The multiple vendors out there keep pushing each other to come up with better equipment all of the time.
I would think that some manufacturers are looking for certain markets where there is a void to fill- mostly by cost.
I can also say that I own good guns, cars and bows why? Because I am a utilitarian and believe in quality.This doesn't mean higher cost = better quality but in many cases it does.Fit and finish is also important to me being an engineer. I can see how it was manufactured and am impressed by that extra umph that is put into a Mathews bow.
Most importantly it is how I shoot (and how it feels) with this somewhat primitive\modern weapon that drives me. A higher reliability percentage in addition to giving the animal the repect of doing whatever is within my means to take it ethically is a part of the equation. I know I could take a deer with a lesser bow but if I don't like it and don't have the confidence of making the right shot at judgement time I am not being a responsible hunter.
Most of today's bows are all good just like guns and cars. Sure an off brand name gun will probably do the job, will mostly be reliable but is it a Kimber? Do I need a Kimber? Probably not but are the better? Does it matter to me what others think? Nope.
Bow technology has been changing so quickly over the years that I think if I stayed with my current bow for 5 years like my last one, it should still compete with some of the bows in the market( as in advantage) ,maybe not the top bow( whomever will be building it then) but it will be reliable still be in the performance game, much like computers.
Do I give a first look to Mercedes,browning,weatherby and Mathews, sure but In my opinion these companies have history of putting out above par hardware.I will always also look at the pool and draw my conclusions for what is reliable,performs to my expectations,has good customer support and is the leader in what they do.So far it has been Mathews in my treestand.
