Looking for reviews from archers who have used the Mathews Z7 Extreme. I would like new input on a bow that has been around for a few years. Those who have used it? Pros / Cons? I am currently in the market and have found a nice bow that has my interest. Thanks in advance for all input.

its one of the better bows mathews have made in the past few years, if i were to buy a mathews bow right now i would buy the z7 extreme, and i would buy it before any of the newer mathews bows...that is me though

Got a new z7x in 2010, i like the draw cycle and back wall much more than the z7. Its short a2a isnt a problem for me with a 28.5"dl. mine has the 60lb limbs , i shoot 452 grain arrows and its very quiet as well as dead in the hand,..the only change i would make and havent is install the focus grip

I would def put a new grip as suggested.

I had one and used it for two years......I had it perfectly tuned but still had a problem getting good groups at long ranges....(me not the bow). I found it to be not as forgiving of minor form flaws as other bows I have shot. But I do love the smaller size, draw cycle was nice, back wall was a bit sloppy but overall a nice bow.

It was a great bow. I think I like my Helim a bit better. I wish I still had my extreme though it was a pleasure to shoot.

Just got my z7 extreme a month ago and love it. It wasn't hard to love since it was a vast improvement from my previous bow. What I do like is the smooth draw, not a large hump before hitting the wall. With that being said I do occasionally have the string jump on me. Not sure if that's what it's called when you creep forward a 1/4 inch and it wants to take off. In one month I've robin hooded two arrows, I never did that in the previous 4 years. I no longer aim at the same target twice unless out past 30.

It was the first bow I ever bought. Glad I did. Smooth shooting fairly dead in the hand. Super accurate to shoot & very quite. If I could go back the only thing I would change would be to put the focus grip on it from the start.

Thanks for all the input! I had a friend offer me his Mathews Z7 Extreme loaded and I think I may purchase it. The setup has an Axion stabilizer, Rip cord drop away rest, Apex expandable sight,Matthews solo cam foam arrow quiver, Vanguard hard shell case. It also comes with a brand new set of G5 Montec broad heads and 2 new Rage 2 blade broad heads as well as a few Easton Full Metan Jacket arrows with a brand new box of a half dozen new arrows still in the box too. I think it is too nice of a bow to pass up.

Now I got to figure out how much I want to sell my loaded 08 general for.

How much do you guys think the above bow is worth?

I love mine! I really like the smaller a2a especially in blinds and treestands for being able to move to get a shot. It shoots very quiet and very accurate. I've got mine maxed @72lbs.....wish I could go a bit higher but it's all good. I like blowing right thru a deer. Got mine in Aug. '11. Hope to keep it a long time.
