Looking for info on the boggy area inside the mcalester army ammunition plant. Im going with 3 guys who have drawn out before, but never in boggy. We are hunting nov.8-10th. Having never been in there myself, I would appreciate any pointers anyone might have!

Last year was my first time to draw McAlister AAP. My Dad and I went and hunted Boggy. The drought had ruined all the acorns where we were. Didn't see many deer where we were. The guys who went on to the middle and west end of Boggy did better. We were toward the east end up on a dry hill. Some of the guys hunting over food plots saw lots of deer and killed a few. My wife and I drew out on Boggy again this year. Hope this rain is making lots of acorns. A buddy of mine has hunted Boggy 3 or 4 times and taken a couple P-Y bucks. He says when the acorn crop is good you cannot go wrong... just hang a stand anywhere there are acorns. He says he sees more deer close to the roads--go figure. Last year, there were several stories around the camp fire of people getting shots and even killing nice bucks that were walking down the road. One fellow had a monster buck walk up on him while sitting on the tailgate of his truck eating lunch. He couldn't get rid of his sandwich and get his bow quick enough... said the buck never notice him till he got really close.

You are lucky to be going with 3 guys who have done this hunt before. Just stick with them. You will have a better chance than most. I'll be there the wk end of Oct 25-27. Hope you killl a big one.

I went last weekend with my wife. You might have seen my posts on another thread. Anyway. Deer did not move much Thursday or Friday... got rained out and left Saturday. One guy that was riding with us had used Google Earth and found a food plot planted in wheat. There was lots of buck sign around it and he saw some deer and got one shot, but never connected. I was surprised that the deer did not move... thought for sure they would this time of year. We saw very few even from the road going in and out to hunt. Only say one medium buck in the ditch after dark on Friday. The deer are there. Hope they move for you when you go. Good luck.
