Must be no different then any other show or pod cast...

I tried again this year to watch the TV show, just could not get through one

a couple i was watching on you-tube and they have gone the commercial route too
one use to drive a beat up truck, they still show them driving it around the farm, but several times in the back ground was a pretty new decked out F250
they also now have a place leased in Kansas and Kentucky

So he has a different opinion than you do? Doesn't mean you have to agree. However by labeling things so black and white, you realize you dig yourself into an echo chamber.

I think most semi-auto platforms are poor for hunting. Straight up poor. However, for home/self defense and varmit/pig eradication, break out the 15's/47's and what haves you.

Just because you disagree with a person on a couple of issues doesn't mean you should write them off completely. Because that shuts down conversation. Shutting down conversation divides us as Americans. Dividing Americans allows for the true win for the commies. Think about that. That's why the First Amendment is the first, and the Second is the second. Because ideas are a higher priority than bearing arms. But you can't have one without the other.

I made the mistake of signing up for their email list. Good grief!! Nonstop, complete commercialization, like everyone else eventually becomes. His partner with the 5 new articles every week is nauseating.

Of the last remaining actual tv shows that I could stomach, I had an appreciation for Small Town Hunting because those guys were so down to Earth in the Primos years. I was glad they got their own show and it was simple, not flashy, more pure hunting and they were funny. Suddenly, they have big endorsement deals and absolutely pimp 4 or 5 products constantly. Every word out of their mouths is CVA and Backwoods Attraction. I know they need money to survive, but they look like every other show now. 🤮

MeatEater has never shied away from sponsoring. If you're just now noticing this, you've been living in a box for quite a while. Before Vortex it was Trijicon, and now they sponsor First Lite, ect...it is what it is and another revenue for money. I'm not upset about it because it's not a blatant ploy like what we saw with the scent-away sprays in the 2000's.

I just watched the fourth episode of the latest season....and damn that javelin-a stew dish looked amazing. I watch the show more for the recipes and see what they do with the animal for food rather than the hunting.

Meateater is a TV show. It survives on sponsorship. First Lite, Vortex, Schnees, are all business looking to advertise their outdoor product. Its not a hard formula to figure out. I have been around for 50 years on this earth. Ever since I can remember watching loony toons 45 plus years ago, I can remember watching commercials.
When you sign up for a email notifications from a company and don't expect a bunch of emails, I can't help you.
If you have been to the Bozeman Montana lately lots of "Hipsters". We are a product of our environment.

Well, af least I admitted that signing up for their email was a mistake. 😜
Wouldn't be so bad, if the content was any good.

As Rinella has gotten more popular, and made more money, he has made some good business decisions. He owns First Lite, FHF Gear, WiredToHunt, Phelps Game Calls, and possibly more we don't even know about. One day he will sell the whole thing and never have to worry about money again. I tip my hat to him. I don't agree with everything he does or says, but my young sons love watching the show and I love the emphasis they show of how important it is to eat what you kill.

I didn't know who Steve Rinella was until he was mentioned in an AT thread a few years ago. I'm pretty late to the Outdoor Channel gig as we had basic Charter cable for years as a bundle for interent connection and cable was a side bonus. When we moved to our present home, there was no cable access so we got Dish and it was included in our package deal. It didn't take long to start sorting out the few good ones from the multitude of weak to poor ones.

I heard Rinella came from Twin Lakes, MI.....which is about 20ish miles north of our current home. Solid roots and decent content focusing upon eating what you took while hunting or gathering. The early episodes I've seen are OK....then success happened.....another infomercial in progress. Happy for his financial success and move to Montana....but that has clearly changed the content. I've also learned NOT to sign up for email alerts.....most can be unsubscribed by scrolling to the very bottom and clicking the appropriate tab.

I know of several that us AR style for hunting, especially youth hunters. Never heard an issue. Also I've never had to clean my gun while hunting. I'm sure there are situations where this would be needed however. I agree on the home defense

223 is fine win used with in its effective range on black tails, out west. Where a good sized buck is 125# the ar platform can be chambered in many effective cartridges, as long as you understand their effective range.

I have hunted with everything from a 17 rem mag to a 45 70. I have taken elk with a 257 weatherby. Most people would say I was under gunned, but I knew the rifle and I waited for the perfect shot at close range. I passed up several animals until I had a shot that I knew would be effective. He died right on the spot I shot him.

ive shot deer with an ar 15 platform in .223, it never took a step. they make smaller magazines for them so you dont have a 30 rounder hanging out. very very versatile platform of gun the ar is. are there better rifles? im sure but you can do alot with then. kinda contradicting to say they are good for varmit HUNTING but poor for other hunting....are they good for hunting or not?
