What's the minimum draw weight were you live? It will probably be around 40-45 lbs. A many deer have been taken with longbows and recurves at that weight. A compound at that weight will definately get the job done. Don't use super light arrows, and use a cut on contact broadhead. And most important, make sure of your shot placement. It takes supprisingly little force to double lung a broadside deer. Shoot as much weight as you can handle (accurately) and try to keep your shots as close as possible.
