STOP!!! Please read this before you do any business with Mitch''s Archery! THIS SHOP IS RUNNING A SCAM!!!

With archery season coming back up i only feel that it is fair to warn anyone in the market for a bow about this shop. I purchased a "New" Matthews bow from Mitch's archery a few months back and my second time having this bow out still sighting it in the bow exploded on me which I later found out was due to an existing crack in the lower limb of this bow. When i contacted Matthews and Mitch's about this issue to get a warranty repair completed I was informed this bow i purchased was in fact not a new bow but a previously owned model which had been registered for warranty by a friend of theres therefore voiding the lifetime warranty on my 2 week old bow that cost me nearly $900!!! As you can imagine this put me in quite a bind when i ask about simply purchasing the new limbs they insisted they would not help me out and eventually quoted me $450 for parts and labor. At which time i took my business elsewhere to a shop in Douglasville which treated me extremely fairly no skin in the game and they did the work same day parts and labor for $90 less than a quarter of the cost the shop that RIPPED ME OFF wanted to charge me!

So again fair warning to anyone in the market don't fall victim to the Scam artist at Mitch's Archery after talking around i have learned i am not the first to have this exact same thing happen when dealing with this shop, wish i would have done my research before wasting over $1,000 on this whole ordeal. I just hope this review saves some of you the headache and costly mistake that i made.

Are they a Mathews dealer?

They are a Matthews Dealer. And no unfortunately They did not register it in the shop before i left, I never would have expected something like this to happen and it was my first time purchasing a Matthews so i didn't know exactly what i was getting myself into. Fortunately Gables sporting goods in Douglasville was the shop that helped me out after the fact and they educated me on all of this so it was certainly a learning experience for me but a very expensive lesson to learn! so I'm hoping by putting the word out there and can save someone from going through this. Also yes i did inform Matthews of what happened and they said the communication would be pushed up.

What a shame. Sorry this happened to ya man. Hopefully Mathews makes it right by reimbursing you the money it took to fix your bow. IMO the guy that sold you the bow, a Mathews dealer, is a representation of Mathews inc. If I were Mathews I'd yank my bows out of his dealership.

Bummer, thanks for the heads-up. I won't be going there!

Selling a used damaged item as new is fraud. I don't know how you paid for your bow but if it was with a credit card I would have been on the phone with them immediately. You may not have a whole lot of rights as a consumer but fraud protection is definitely one of them. You have already paid for the repairs so you would have to decide if this is something you would want to do. I would also report this shop to the BBB as well as Matthews.

Understand that I am not doubting you but I have to say, this just doesn't sound like Mitch.

Exactly.....Mitch runs an excellent business there and is the biggest Mathews dealer in the state (and probably the southeast)....Something sounds a little fishy....

If the bow was represented as a new bow & registered before that is not a new bow & that is fraud. I would contact the police & if that didn't work I would go to small claims court. Sounds like you should have the proof you need.

There is always two sides to every story. I like to hear the other side before casting judgement.

The OP obviously registered the username just to rip into Mitch. Maybe he has a legitimate claim, maybe not.
If he has paperwork that describes the bow as "new", he has a legitimate claim against Mitch. If he doesn't, maybe his claim is legitimate, maybe not.
Why won't Mitch get his friend to make the claim for you? Maybe you approached the situation in anger? That almost always gets a negative response.
Maybe you got a "great deal" from Mitch and didn't look closely enough at the receipt where it said "used"?

Like has been posted several times before, there are two sides to every story. We've seen to many of these types of threads started by new members to to accept only one version of the story.

Maybe someone can get Mitch to post his side.

I have no dog in the fight and this may very well have happened, but as said, there is another side to the story. What raises my eyebrows is a user name of "web reviews." There is at least a little more to the story that we haven't heard. Maybe an employee doing something shady, maybe not. But if you've been scammed, it should be rectified. Good luck.

I have yet to buy a bow that was used that I couldn't tell in some way or fashion that it was used. And if I was duped as the OP claims to have been, I sure as heck wouldn't just take it somewhere else and roll on. I also highly doubt that Mathews would have blown off a customer who claimed he was sold a used bow as new by a Mathews dealer........

So, I'm tagging this train wreck just to see who survives. :happy1:

I am not a customer of Mitch's in the sense that I do not live in the area and rarely get a chance to go to his shop. I am not a shooter for him or Mathews. I have bought things in the past and do know Mitch pretty well. I can tell you this, he does indeed charge for his work, and he should, his work is very good. However I would never believe that he would deceive or make any sort of shady deal. That's my opinion and I will tell anyone that, personally or from a key board. I also believe that a person who's only post are on this thread is probably less trustworthy. I have never ever posted from any other account than this one and I will stand behind my opinions.

Having said all that, I hope that every one deals with their customers in a ethical and upstanding manner and would be surprised if this went down as stated.
