I have business trip coming to Whitefish this Fall (Sept 21 to 24th). I thought of bringing my bow along and possibly arriving sooner and doing some bowhunting.

Any advise, or thoughts on what I can get tags for? I visited the MT website and appears that many seasons are open..

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
John

The seasons are open...

but you would have had to applied for tags in March. Montana is a draw only for out of state hunters. Sorry to give you the bad news!

Welcome to Montana though. I am sure you will be impressed with our valley! Make sure to set a day aside for the park. Definately make a trip down to Flathead Lake, and look into things that are going on...always something. Visit our bow shops as well...Flaming Arrow (Dennis Breiske), and Spirit Quest (Aaron Lasko).

If you have not previously applied for any tags you are pretty much out of luck (regaurding elk, mule deer and antelope). I'm pretty sure you are aloud to purchase over the counter whitetail doe tags.

Can you get tags through outfitters/guides, or must they be purchased directly?
There usually booked in advanced, and usually have a waiting list. I forgot to mention anyone bowhunting in Montana must show proof of bowhunter education or a archery stamp from another state.

You have one last chance....get on line and apply for the elk and deer super tag. You can enter as many times as you want a 5 bucks a pop. The dead line is August third....http://fwp.mt.gov/default.html

Good Luck...
