If your price range isn't too high, many great bow packages can be had for less than $400. The best advice is to go to a local dealer and shoot as many bows as you can. Get what feels best because what feels and shoots good for me may be completely wrong for you.

This will be my third season - got started with a Martin Jaguar for about $400 for the whole package. Doesn't have the bells and whistles of a Mathews or Hoyt or what-not, but seems to be a good bow. My $.02.

Go to a pro shop and shoot a few that you like.Buy the one that feels the best as you draw and in your hand at the shot. There's a lot of different cam designs out there and you've gotta find the one you like. You don't have to break the bank to get a really nice hunting rig.Look for something in the 3 to $400 range and get some decent accesories to go along with it and you'll be in good shape for deer season. There's no "best bow for the money" out there. It all comes down to personal preference.

I suggest a used bow outta the classifieds section if your budget is $450 or less. You can find some KILLER deals over there on 2-4 year old bows. You should be able to find something like a Hoyt X-tec or a Bowtech Patriot or a Mathews Outback that's got a rest and a sight for that kinda money. Those are top shelf bows from 3 years back and are still fantastic today! :thumb:

Do you know what draw-weight, draw length you need? Are you righty or lefty?

PSE packages from Cabela's, 300. bucks for a good bow. You will have enough left over for a tree stand.

There are plenty of good bows for that kind of money but its the accessories that are gonna' cost you. My advise is look at some used gear right here and if your lucky you can get the sight and rest stabilizer and arrows thrown in with the cost of the bow. Second, I would buy a KIT as mentioned or just a bow if you have some friends that are archers. I have given second hand arrows, stabilizers, releases.....to new hunters because......well, they are new hunters and I like to see them getting into the sport. The key to your bow IMO is accuracy and quietness and you can get both in a low cost bow what you usually Don’t get is speed. But, being new I would recommend close shots anyway so the speed isn't as important at first and depending on your hunting style and range estimation maybe never. If you don't know anyone who can help you then hang out at a local pro shop or go to a 3D watch. You'll be surprised how many archers are more than willing to help out.

good option............

.......go to a pro shop ..NOT A BOX MART...they have used bows alot of the time as well as new and will fit you to a bow draw length ..start at lower lb draw get a bow say 50-60 ...and have them help you with ever thing from arrows to broadheads ...if you want to learn even faster join a archery club ..again ask the pro shop about the local club ..you can find people to hunt with there as well .. now on new bows you get a lot for your money with Martin ,,and Perason bows..IMHO ..of course .. Best to you my brother ...

As most will say, go to your archery dealers, shoot as many bows as you can, and buy the one that you like the most. Some of the characteristics to look at: speed, hand shock, vibration, recoil, noise level, overall feel, quality, price, etc.

Given your budget, I'd take a good look at the Fred Bear Element. It's the bow Team Primos is endorsing right now. I want to say it's $299 bow only from Cabela's. That gives you some room to purchase the accessoris you want.

For the money I don't see where you could go wrong with the Bear Instinct. Nice shooting little bow.
Be sure and check this bow out. Go to www.bowsite.com and check out the head to head bow test, this $300 bow was thrown in with 9 $700 bows and it came out in 3rd place. PSE is also a great company with quality products
