Hi guys

Just went to local shop yesterday and ordered a new Hoyt Trykon XL. I loved the way it felt and shot in my hands. I have a very long draw length 31'' , and will be shooting goldtip xt hunters. 7595's with blazer vanes, Thru a Whisker Biscuit. And Im guessing the WB can be mounted back a little further than the traditional prong style rests, to be able to let me shoot around a 2-3'' less long arrow than my draw length. (28-29'' long arrow)

I was tossing up between what poundage to go with, the 50-60 or 60-70.
The dealer told me whatever lb bow I should go with I want to be as close to maxing out the poundage as possible , so the bow will shoot better.

The 50-60lb was at 60 and he said it would max out at about 62 or so. I shot this bow really great and it felt perfect after shooting probably 20 or so times in a row I was still feeling good. ANd didnt feel pressured to realease to soon cause of the weight.

On the 60 to 70lb bow it was set at about 65lb or so ( the minimum lbs I guess this bow should be setup in order to shoot its best ) and I could still pull it back with ease but noticed that well, it was deffinatly alot more work for me to get back but i could still get it back fairly easy but was thinking I deffinatly couldnt shoot this setup as much as the lighter weight bow.

Well long story short I ordered the 50-60 lb bow that I will max out , but in the back of my mind I still am wondering if I should of went with the 60 -70lb ,to be able to have that option of the higher poundage in case I need to hunt some african game or something ( I only wish- lol ) but actually it will be only used on whitetails and maybe someday ill be lucky to go after some bear or possible caribou or something.

What do you guys think , I was thinking its better to be able to shoot a lighter bow more accuratly more than a heavier one less and develop target panic or something. ANd blowout my shoulder more along the way.

Also am searching for a site , soooo many choices, What are you trykon shooters using. IM looking for the brightest fiber optic that I can also have a light attached also for maximum glow at dusk.

Thanks for any opinions

You were better going with the 60# then the 70#. If your up in arms about Africa, then you know it is not anytime soon and you got to live for today. As far as bears, don't even worrymy 60, which is at I believe 58#'s blew thru like butter on both bears. I am not even sweating it for Elk. Heck you watch these hunting shows its all about placement anyway and I seen a 35# blow thru a deer. You won't regret yourchoice plus with your DL, you will have a lil more speed than a 29" 60# and kinetic energy as well. Its all about the KE and shot placement, accuracy kills, not speed, unless on a sport bike..
