Not sure if they make anything like this but I'm looking for a jacket and pants thats windproof, waterproof or resistant ,and has some insulation. I do alot of stand hunting in PA but also hunting out west in the mountains. I also need something that is somewhat burr resistant unlike fleece. I haven't bought any of the high end stuff like sitka or kuiu so I'm not sure what they make. Just had enough of having four different sets of camo to get through the season.

Thanks

I am testing out day one cowboy suede which would fit ur needs like they did mine if it works

Hunting out west is very different than eastern hunting. It’s super hard to have one set for both. Sitka will be the best as they have clothes for whitetail. I would not wear Kuiu in Pa. The Day One is a good option but would be super hot in September if that is when you were elk hunting. Maybe Sitka, Kuiu or First Light with an IWOB suit.

Ive been looking at sitka at the local sporting goods, cant spend the money on it. Ive been looking into Badlands Calor jacket and pants and First lite Catalyst Jacket and pants. Not sure which route im going to go.

I know badlands has a lifetime warranty. first lite has a great pattern but nothing with a windblocker. I would look into sitka stratus . if you cant afford it go used. all kinds of used cableas sets in the classifieds with gortex.

First thing you should look at is a good base layer

My dream would be the sitka line in first light fusion pattern

In my opinion, FL is much better quality than Badlands. In fact it’s not even close. FL makes top end clothing. However, FL still doesn’t have the gear for whitetail that Sitka does. I wear a mix up of clothing though. FL base layers, Kuiu and Sitka outerwear with a Kifaru pack. Between camofire, oneshot and sales you should be able to find a system that works for you.

Check the classifieds for some used Sitka Stratus Jacket and pants/bibs. That matches up to almost exactly what you are looking for. I have worn mine down to 20s with an insulation layer hunting PA treestands.

I spent an entire day at the ATA just trying on clothing. As much as I liked the Sitka material on the stratus line I hate the fit , pattern and price. Nomad had some decent stuff and I like their Veil pattern . Exterior of the clothing was nice but the interior was ruff looking. Scentloc was very well made and durable looking , but bulky and overpriced. I’ve had a few pieces in the past . Browning appears to be a rebranded Under armour and I’m not impressed with any of the UA camo I have other than it matched my Mathews bow. So, last but not least I tried on Badlands. Fit was great . Quality material. Ok pattern . Plenty of warmth. Lifetime unconditional warranty, did I mention the warranty. I ordered 3 complete systems (early, mid, late) for what I was gonna pay for the a complete stratus set.

Firstlite makes quality stuff and have tried some . Fits ok , good pattern, expensive and doesn’t block wind.

Kuiu . Fits good , awesome pattern, expensive, no wind protection.

Predator. Nothing fits right , great pattern , cheap material

I say Badlands. Buy you a couple systems for the price and have one for out west and one one stand hunting back east. Their new bibs are supposed to be out late spring also .

I personally live in Pennsylvania and use the SKRE Hardscrabble Jacket and Pants as my outer layer when the temperature calls for it. I use the Kaibab Merino base layers in the early season and Wasatch base layers in the later portion of the season. If you need extra insulation, the Kanati Hoodie and Ptarmigan Down Jacket are great additions.

P.S. SKRE is based out of Utah, but their gear works really well all over.

Best,
Tim

I just picked up a Nomad Harvester set, I'm hunting in MA. I haven't hunted with it yet but I've worn it outside in the wind and it completely blocked the wind and is extremely warm. My only concern is the bib being too hot on the walk in.

First lite gear. It’s warm and it breaths. Last year was my first using it and won’t go back. Warped knit like cowboy suede or wolfskin don’t breath as well. If you hunt in the mountains of PA you know the importance of not being a ball of sweat. They also have different materials for different applications. Check them out.

Don't overlook Kryptek. I picked up their Aegis bibs on sale...check Elk101 and/or Blackovis. Good Luck!

Sitka Stratus sounds like what you are looking for. it is great for the eastern whitetail hunter

i would get the sitka jetstream and wear the kuiu kenai under it when it gets cold, if you ever own a jacket with pit zipps, you won't be happy with one without them.

in the same boat, looking at different systems for mid and late season. I really like the predator camo patterns, but not seeing a good selection of products. Any recommendations on similar patterns from other companies, or where to find good predator options??

Little late to the game here but, Camofire. Today they have a sweet sale on Kings Camo, probably have Sitka tomorrow, Browning the next day, etc, etc, etc. I’ve pieced things together from there with good success. If you don’t mind wearing different patterns, that’s a good bet.
