I bought some new Gold Tip carbons recently and when indexing the nocks I noticed the nocks are very tight on the string of my Mathews FX. They are much tighter than any of my other arrows. The new arrows shoot fine but I am concerned about the very tight fit.

Can a tight fitting nock: cause problems such as excessive and rapid string serving wear? rob you of velocity? cause louder than normal shot noise? other problems?

Can a nock string groove fit be altered safely without causing problems? Should I consider changing nocks??

Thanks for any feedback.

If you nock an arrow and tap the string (with the arrow pointing at the ground), it should fall off. I had some nocks that were too tight. The farther back I moved, the higher the bow shot. If yours are shooting fine, you're probably OK.
