The newly renovated Hidden Springs State Forest 3D course opened today and I was invited to shoot it the first day. The state did a great job for once. The course includes rocked walking paths, 21 brand new Rinehart 3d targets, a 15 foot deck to shoot from, and clearly marked signage. The local high school kids volunteered their time to make this come together along with Bill, the site administrator. If you are in central IL you should stop in and check it out. I’ve included a few pics of the opening day of the course.

does it cost to shoot through it?

open every day?
2 hours from me
No, free to the public. They did mention they are adding a donation box soon for replacing/repairing the targets as they get shot up. Yes, open 7 days a week. Just drive to the Hidden Springs ofc and walk around behind the shop. Signs tell you where to go. They also have a single bag, marked yardage 40 yard warm up/practice range up top near the ofc.

Great looking course. Enjoy it. I wonder if Commichusetts (unfortunately my home state) would ever do something like that….I’m not holding me breath!
I’m very surprised the state of IL did this as they usually don’t realize the state continues on south of I-80.
