New shooter, Would a stabilizer help

474 Views 8 Replies 8 Participants Last post by  jdolan16
Hi
I just picked up my new bow yesterday (Hoyt RX7 Ultra) and I have never shot a bow before, my question is will a stabilizer help my groups? This is the first six arrows I shot from my new bow.

Probably not as much as some would have you think:

What Stan do you shoot? Not bad shooting for 80".

They can help for sure, if not pro shooters wouldn't use them. Of course you need to have it on the bow when you practice. I can normally do pretty well without mine out to 80 yards, for sure acceptable hunting groups without one, but if I do put my extendable stabilizer on and extend it out to 21" it for sure steadies the bow. Will I ever have it on the bow extended to 21" during an actual hunt, very unlikely, I really prefer to practice without a stabilizer because I put on hundreds of miles a year while packing a bow and the extra weight really isn't worth the small gain I get. My last 3 bulls have been killed without my stabilizer on the bow.
Yes, no, maybe!!!! There is no right or wrong answer. Inly what works for you and makes yiu feel warm and fuzzy. The choices are more than there are bows.
Myself yes I use them. What kind, model, weight, length. The one that works for just me.

It’s a joke people! And a good one at that. Wonder how many others will actually try to answer the question without really looking at the OP.

OP, with some good stabilization I think you could tighten that group by a good centimeter or two - lol. Either way you’d be a shoe-in to win Vegas next year.

I'd say you could, and should use one. Those arrows should all have been Robin Hooded.

As long as it extends past your riser it should help with pin movement. Try to imagine a infinite sign and do that with your pin. It will eventually be so small you don't even recognize it.
