All. I'm new to archery and just bought my first bow.....Mathews XVR 28". For those in the Boston MA area it was recommended that I visit Reedy's Archery and talk to Chris the owner. Chris was out that day but his son Matthew was a great help. I tried several bows and Matthew (believe it or not, the son's name) was very supportive and worked with me a few hours. For the first time in a long while I left feeling like I just received really good customer service and with a product that was set up for me. Two days later I went back with my son and got him set up also. It's great to be able to shoot with him and I'll admin he's a much better shot that I...but young eyes do help! Fast forward a month or so we graduated off 10 yards and to 20. Last week we moved to 30 and I was having a hard time seeing the target....by the way I have a single post Black Gold Ascent Verdict. I'm not into clutter so anything more that one post was way to distracting, in fact I would prefer a single dot. I went back yesterday to the archery shop and they installed a clarifer. Now I can see the target but the pin is still way to small and still has a halo. The archery shop said go practice before we changes anything else and I agree that small steps are best. I flung a 100 or so arrows at 30 yards today after I re zeored at 10 and 20 (because they swapped my peep) but that dang pin is a killer and if the target is in full sun I can't even see the pin. I'm looking for feedback on the above and I will preface it with the following; I shoot an open 9mm gun with a Trijicon SRO 5 MOA and can shoot all day long, both eyes open and in any light condition. The bow fiber is .019 or approx 2 MOA. That 3 MOA smaller than I'm used too. If I could figure out a way to get the SRO on my bow and still maintain the ability to changes my yardage and windage (in other works, not a fixed sight which is all that I can find) I'd rip the SRO off the gun in a second. I'm on the fence about the Garmin XERO and I'm also considering the UltraView 2 with the adapter sold here and a zbros light....but that will put me in the same price range as the Garmin. Another options is a Bowfinger 2020/40 with zbros but that up there in price also. Keep in mind that I don't mind spending money if it addresses my issue.....but I'm not about to buy a ton of accessories to see what works.....yes, I know its all opinion, but I need to do something to keep up with my son! Also, I will mostly be target shooting. If "the you know what" hits the fan and I need to go hunt bambi in my backyard...yes, they stroll through all the time.....my guess is the game warden will also be covering his rear end and won't give a hoot about what I'm doing in the sticks. Said another way...I would like to have one set up to suit all, but will favor target. Anyhow, that my 2 cents so please weigh in with feedback. Thanks all.
