I just looked at my calendar. I start doing that this time of year. The ND bow season begins 111 days from today. August 30 is the opening day and this year there is sure to be a lot of Bucks in Velvet. The bucks are still in their bachelor groups at that time which makes things even more interesting and exciting to watch. There are a few bugs to deal with some days but the wind blows around most of the time. It can get pretty warm too, but you can't have it all. Later in the season, around the end of Sept it is even better, but no velvet then. It is cooled off a lot and the leaves are turning and hardly any bugs. It is hard to beat the sunsets from the deck. There are enough deer and no pressure so they are unsuspecting. This is highlight of the year for me. Being up at the hunting shack does wonders for the soul. I thank the Lord for the early whitetail bow hunting season.
