Ohio Bowhunting Help

Wondering if I can get some guidance on hunting near Ada/Lima, OH. I go to school at Ohio Northern and saw some real nice deer here and there around school in the fall. I've looked on the ODNR website at public options and it seems Killdeer Plains would be interesting for bow hunting.

Not sure if there is anything closer that is public or if asking for permission to hunt private land is a better bet.
