Hopefully this post meets the criteria of this platform.

Looking get a hunting bow soon. I bow hunted Years ago but have not in a long time. I always like Matthew’s. I am not looking to drop a fortune on a bow setup and decided that I will ease back in slowly. Anyone have any recommendations for older Matthew’s bows that are good choices but won’t break the bank. I really don’t wanna go back as far as the real old school like the FX2 or anything. Someone on my last post recommended the Chill but my post was deleted so hoping to start a conversation that can give me some ideas. Thanks in advance.

What do you mean by "won't break the bank?" You can get couple year old flagships for a decent price used. It all comes down to what you want to spend.

Thanks for the reply. Im not 100% certain because I see a lot of the same models with wild price differences. I’d say, somewhere around the $500-$600 range would be ok if I can find something that’s ready to hunt.

My only experience is with the older solo’s but my buddy that’s a long time member on here works in the office across the hall from me. He recommends the duals. He has an Image and it is probably one of the nicest bows I’ve put hands on. He said they hardly ever come up for sale though. Idk if it would be in the range of what I wanna spend though even if they were available.

LX is a good one if you can find one in your draw length, killed piles with one of those. Currently shooting the Bowtech ODBs (experience, insanity, etc.) which can be had for another 50 bucks or so and are draw length adjustable and a step up from the solo cams in my opinion.

Man. That is a sick looking bow. My DL is 29-29.5. I need to get measured again. My buddy that I work with is an archery guy and knows how to measure correctly. When I get to the office I will get him to measure my draw. I will let you know and if it’s still available we can talk. Thank you for the reply.

If you're willing to look at other brands there's alot of great bows out there in that range. Several PSE's come to mind with the Evolve cam.

If it's a Mathews only the Z7 is great. MR Monster series. Chill. Creed. Chill X is more of a "target" bow but those seem to sell a tad cheaper.

You don't need $300 sights, $200 stabilizer and a $250 rest to hunt with period..............lol. The bow is the key thing in the hunting realm and the accessories are not that critical. The main thing you get with high dollar accessories is easy of adjustment. That's not the end all of accuracy it's the ability to get there quicker and easier.

I still prefer simpler, lighter and less expensive accessories for hunting and the accuracy is there with no issues.......so don't get ease and luxury confused with practicality. Cost not being an issue I still use simple accessories on my hunting bow. I just prefer them.......lighter, rugged, less complicated and rock solid.

So IMO put the majority of the money into a bow and if it has a WB or Drop away, a solid sight with good bright fiber you are good to go. Many people don't even use a stabilizer to hunt and I use the cheap beginner Beestinger I guess...............lol. So you'll be fine. You should be able to get many bows for $600 and I wouldn't put the blinders on if I were you. Many good bows out there Mathews AND others. Good luck
