It was the afternoon of opening day around 5:30pm and I spotted two gobblers in the field I wanted to set up in. So I got on the oppisite side of the fencerow and snuck my way down into the swamp and watch the gobblers until they dissappeared behind a knoll. I run out into the field and am throwing stuff everywhere trying to get setup quick. I get my blind setup and B-mobile and two hen decoys set at 10 yds. I get in the blind and start cailling but get no response. After 20 minutes of calling on and off I see the tip of a fan coming around the end of the knoll. The gobbler struts into view and I yelp a few times then gobble twice. He comes out of strut and comes on a half run right to with three feet of B-mobile and goes in to full strut again. I drew and made a good shot at a whopping nine yards. He made it a short distance a collapsed. I dont think i will ever hunt turkeys with a gun again after this. It was awesome. He weighed 22 lbs and had a 9 inch beard and inch spurs.
