They're originally designed for recurve bows, so they are a little on the thin side.
I have one which i sometimes use for compound with no problems. The carbon only model apparently, to some archers, will crack, so the Alum/Carbon is the way to go. So far, no problems with the Alum/Carbon model.
I would be careful about how i tighten the stab - ALWAYS hold onto the ferrule and NOT the rod itself as several (over here) have had the glue break and the rod loosen. The other archers didn't have much luck re-glueing with super strong overnight epoxy.
There is a chunkier, 1" thick model Cartel makes for compound shooters under the 'TRIPLE' lable. It has a very slight taper and looks and feels a lot sturdier.
