I don't see why it should be an issue. All of the old racks they find in places are already mounted.

How would that be determined on a mounted buck? Would they have to cut the cape?

Any pics? what was the unofficial score?

im not positive but i always thought that the horns had to be off the mount to get it "officially scored and entered" because they have to make sure the skull plate is not splite or anything

It cannot be mounted to get an official score. The animal has to be complete the 60-day drying period, and then scored.

Mounted trophies can and have been officially measured for both P&Y and B&C. Visit each respective website (P&Y / B&C) to find the nearest measurer and contact them with your request. Just let them know it's a mounted trophy so they can prepare themselves ahead of time. Hope it helps.

I thought they could x-ray the skull cap on a mount to see if it was split or not. Of course, x-raying isn't worth doing unless it is a world-class animal.

Thanks for the info guys. I went to the P&Y website and found a guy in my area that does it. If I have to get the cape removed for them to look at the skull, thats fine. Thanks again.
