I have signed up for a mid-Oct deer hunt in the Paducah, Ky area.
What can you tell me about the weather at this time of year?
When is the peak of the rut?
What about snakes and bugs?
This a all archery hunt on 600 ac. of private land.
I will be there for 1 wk.
THANKS

Ky hunt

I live 75 miles east of paducah. The weather can be 30's or 70's,whatever the man upstairs decides. As far as bugs........Well,there will be some ticks and yeah,a few snakes are possible. And the rut usually peaks on the 2nd week of November,so you could get in on the pre-rut(there again,it depends on the weather) Hope you have a great hunt.

I live around an hour from paducah. I love making trips there...usually it involves a trip to Gander Mountain. I always see several deer on the way. Are you using an outfitter? If so, is it just west of Paducah? Can't remember the name of it, but they are loaded up with deer.

I've hunted east of Paducah and there are some big bucks in that area. KY seems to have been a sleeper state in the way of big bucks, but they are putting a bunch of trophy bucks in the books each year. I was just in Paducah today for a lunch meeting and my buddy told me he's been seeing some killer bucks. Best of luck to you.

KY & Oct.

Let's see....
Mid-Oct. in KY....Well it might snow on you, but then again you might wanna pack some shorts and sunscreen, kinda hard to tell around here what the weather is gonna be...I'd bet on pretty warm though, maybe 50's or 60's or hotter during the day...80's wouldnt be out of the question.
If your coming in Mid-Oct, your gonna be a few weeks early for the main rut, it normally doesnt crank up till the last week of Oct or the 1st week of Nov.
Mid Oct. can be hard hunting, by that time they have stopped feeding in most of the feilds with alfalfa & soybeans and are hitting the acorns hard if there are any in the area. That's where I'd start looking if I were you...Check for white oaks and look for some acorns on the ground.
Yeah you'll probably find some ticks, maybe snakes too....And if the weather is still hot you wont have to worry about finding any skeeters, they'll find you soon enough.
If you get to hunt that tract of land again and you can pick your time, I'd shoot for the 1st week of Nov. before rifle season comes in....Your gonna see more rut action then, just a lil' something to keep in mind.
