While comparisons have been made between Pandarus and Easton's top Olympic recurve arrows, the Easton top of the line arrow is 30+ years old. Surely there is something on the horizon to either spur Easton into more R&D and a new iteration of the X-10, or an evolution/creation by someone else out there.

30 years is an eternity in our technology driven world. What's next?

This video might be interesting if you'd like to see a recent international competitor shooting a 30y.o. recurve setup:

In news that will probably shock nobody: it's the archer, not the equipment that's important!

I feel that we probably reached the point some decades ago where the kit is good enough and reliable enough for it to allow perfect scores in the hands of an archer skilled enough to make use of it, therefore what would be the pressure to innovate? I think that's why we see so many archery products that are 'new' every year but that are functionality identical to their predecessor but with different graphics on.

I suspect the pressure to innovate will happen when someone is able to produce a reasonable facsimile of the current arrow at a price point that reflects 30 year old technology. Let's call it the 'generic drug' effect. Up until that point (and perhaps that point is here), I suspect Easton will keep cashing the checks.

There is a bit of a funny juxtaposition between saying 30yo tech is the best for arrows and having a 2 year replacement cycle for risers and limbs, with claims of improvements at the margins.
