Newspaper!... ?

I use newspaper. Will this skew my results? Somtimes it's hard to tell which way the rip is but bullet holes show up well!

Thats fine as long as it is not loose. To read the tear direction it is from the point entrance to the fletching or nock end.

I went to Shermin Williams and picked up some of that brown paper guys use to cover floors while painting... its in a roll and comes in various sizes and amounts to suit your needs. The paper is also just slightly heavier than regular printer paper but less than butcher paper which I believe is too stiff or heavy.

Best yet...

Fax paper... it's heat sensitive, comes in a roll and works great.

If you know anyone that works for the newspaper you might be able to get their end rolls that they dont use. That is what we do here and it works great , you just pull out more paper as it gets shot up and tear off the used part . The roll just hangs on the tuner so the weight of it keeps the paper tight.

The BEST paper I've found is...

just plain ole' wax paper. It comes in a roll, you can find it anywhere, it's thin and it's cheap. Because of its thinness (is that a word?) it shows tear details much better than any other kind of paper I've tried. You'll need a fixture to stretch it across, but other than that I think it's the best paper to use. I just spent 15 bucks at Home Depot and bought 3 8-foot sticks of 1-1/2" pvc pipe plus some T's and elbows and 4 carrige bolts, 4 washers and 4 wing nuts and made my own freestanding paper jig. I got the idea for the stand from someone here on AT. I'm sure the post is still around here somewhere.

"Paper"

Surely you have a printing shop around close. Go there and they have "buttrolls' that are to small to run on a press and they just throw them away. About 12"-15" wide is great. Also a easy and cheap way to paper tune is get a cardboard box and cut out squares in front and back pull paper tight and staple. Set-up to your height with a "will stop" or anything to stop arrows and you can paper tune easily at home. I just figured this out and it works great. Hope this helps someone as much as it helped me.:darkbeer:
