Figure out how far your peep has to rotate to open completely, and which way...then add that many twists into your string...it takes some trying, but eventually it will go where you want it.
Instead of twisting the string, you can move one strand at a time from right to left or left to right to get the peep orientation correct. Be sure to keep an equal number of strands on each side. For each strand you move on the front you have to move one in back also.
