Tell me your state and the market price per acre to lease hunting land. I'm from Maine and this is a very foreign concept.

In my area of Texas, it's anywhere from $5-$20 per acre depending on location and deer quality.

I know a farmer here in Michigan that gets $100 an acre. Him and his brother have several hundred acres leased out.

HOLY COW. I would quit hunting before I paid that. There isn't any place to hunt that is worth that much.:pukey:

I lease 10000 acres for $800 so I guess that comes to $12.50 an acre.

The price can obviously vary by a wide margin but the better farms around some of the areas I hunt bring $50+ per acre

Actually, if you lease 10,000 acres for $800.00, then you are paying $.08/acre. 8 cents per acre:darkbeer:

I don't think you are paying $12.50 per acre............That would come to MUCH more than $800.00.......

We renewed our lease again this year. 2500 acres for $2 an acre.
A friend of mine owns property in Alabama and the 330 acres that he does not hunt brings $18 an acre.

I'm paying $5 per this year. Last year was $10 per acre...we had to match on offer from another party. Can't blame the farmers but, that's getting too high. I had some offered this year for $25 and acre..NO WAY JOSE:shade:

In North Central Texas (Knox County) we have 5300 acres leased for about $5 per acre. 13 shooters @$2000 each. It is a one buck county and the deer are not plentiful, but do have great genetics. Last year we harvested five bucks 174, 164, 162, 154, and 146. The one buck law and small population keep the cost down. Hogs, dove, quail, turkey and yotes at no extra charge along with a lease house.
