On page 38 of the latest Petersen's mag they have a quiz. One of the questions is;
When adhering carbon or aluminum inserts into todays internal component all carbon shafts, which of these is the most reccomended method?
Hot melt glue,super glue.fletching cement or melted bar soap:rolleyes:
They say super glue. I thought super glues dried hard and would not take the impact of the arrow hitting the target without breaking loose. Am I wrong or are they way off base on this. I use 24 hour epoxy, what do you guys use and how well does it work? Thanks in advance for any answers.

I use a bit of hot melt. Superglues dry hard and are tough to remove later if you want to cut down the arrow. Epoxies do the same. With hot melt just screw a field point in, heat the field point, and pull with pliers.

Thanks,
Rick

Don't do the stuff myself (YET), but I have a buddy who has been making his own arrows for a while and super glue is all he uses.

I agree with you, Top Cat.
That's what I've always heard.

But after this thread I might use super glue.

I use super glue on the inserts or nibbs and hot melt on the uni-bushing in case one gets tanked, I can change it out.

I haven't lost any points yet to R&W targets and that is saying a lot! :eek:

Thanks for the input guys. I just made a couple more arrows and I am going to try bondini super glue. If I lose an insert this weekend I will go back to 24 hour epoxy. I gotta admit I didn't think that many people used super glue. Live and learn.

Super glue works great but like you say it dries hard and your vanes will suffer after time
