So I have a good clearing made in the woods now and am thinking about planting a couple fruit trees in the clearing to act as a natural attractant. Have it narrowed down to persimmon and apple trees. I know I need at least 2 persimmon trees to get them to bear fruit, not sure about apple trees. Not sure which would be better to plant from an attractant standpoint. I.e., which would bear fruit longer or at a better time for deer season. Persimmons bear fruit at about 7-8 years of age. not sure about apples especially with all the species.
Woods are in southeast Indiana, mostly hardwoods. Clearing has pretty good sun.
