Interested in both of these bows. Unfortunately really no way to test the nexus 4 without a long drive time. Both has their appeal to me in different ways. What are people’s thoughts on those that have shot both?
One thing that is very important to me in a hunting rig is quietness, that is why I put the PSE slightly ahead, but maybe there is a way to make the Nexus 4 as quiet that I just don’t know about.

I wanted to love the Nexus 4, but its a stiff draw, feels shorter, is louder, and still has some buzz.

I've never been a PSE fan, but this EVL 34 is smooth, has a consistent draw, is quiet, and shoots acceptable speeds for a 6.75 bh.

Both hold exceptionally well on target.

I know there's lots of love for the Nexus, but that EVL 34 is special.

I keep trying to like Prime but have always found the draw cycle to be a lot stiffer than I want.

I've shot the Nexus 6. It is dead as dead gets. The draw starts off super easy but loads up in the back. It is a strange draw cycle. Easy, then stiff on the last few inches. You never really feel any dump. It just stops. Definitely "alien" in feel but super comfortable. The bow aims as well as any high end target bow I've ever shot (and I've shot them all). The string angle is weird as a 36 feels more like a 33 or 34" ATA bow. So the aim should suck and the holding should be worse but it is not. It is by far the weirdest bow I've ever handled but honestly, it is absolutely spectacular. It is really hard to explain because everything I look for in a bow is pretty much opposite in this rig yet it works. The bow aims like a Hoyt Invicta but feels like a hunting bow string angle with a draw that is completely the polar opposite of what I would ask for.... yet, it is spectacular and more dead in hand than my TRX36 or Bowtech Reckoning 35. I can't really put into words just how impressed I was with it. Weird? Absolutely! Aims and holds as well as any high end target rig? Absolutely! It is everything I don't want in a target bow and yet it is absolutely amazing at the same time. Now, I know you were asking about the smaller ATA bow but this is all I have to respond with. If they are as awesome as the 36 model, they will be excellent bows.

I like hearing all of this! I just bought a Nexus 6 in the classifieds that will be my first Prime bow. I’ve never shot a Prime or even seen one in person. I wanted something completely new and different to me to tinker with while I wait for the Vista 35 I ordered, so weird will be good I guess. I generally prefer 34-36” bows, so I’m hoping I can get along with the string angle. If not, back to the classifieds it will go.

A Nexus 4 is a lot of things, but not loud. I did replace the factory stop which stopped some minor felt vibration but that’s it. I haven’t shot the EVL so I can’t comment there. Can’t really go wrong either way. Do you have a preference for how a bow tunes? How letoff is adjusted? It’s natural balance? These two are different for each of these.

Nexxus 2 here, def not loud. Never shot it without the hitek string stop either so idk about the buzz people are talking about. Definitely a diff draw but to me it is quite smooth all the way through. 0 dump. Holds very well. After shot is very nice to. Can’t say much for the pse. Been a few yrs since I had one.

With regards to noise I’m on that mission as well. I’ve sold bows solely because I didn’t like how they sounded compared to my other bows. Then along comes the Mach 1, loved the bow in every way but it’s louder than my others. I tried everything to get it quiet. Then I decide to video myself shooting three bows, Mach, Evoke 31 and Encore. To me the Evoke is whisper quiet. I shoot both directions, facing cam and back to cam. Then played them back.. Crazy thing was the Mach didn’t sound anything like I was hearing shooting it. Played them for my wife, she picked the Mach as the quietest 🤷‍♂️

Lesson learned, just because a bow sounds louder in the driver seat doesn’t mean that it will sound the same from the side.

To those comments saying it's not loud did you compare it to other bows? IMO it was louder than the Hoyt Ventum 33,PSE EVLs, and Mathews. It wasn't really loud, but definitely has a different sound (louder to me).

BTW I'm not a Prime basher. I've owned every Prime since the Rize, I just wasn't overly impressed with the Nexus 4.

I've owned recently: Mathews Vertix, Bowtech Revolt X, Bowtech Reckoning, Mathews Halon, Prime Nexus 4. None of them really stand out, they all have different frequencies and different amounts of "felt vibration", but none are harsh and none make me notice one is way quieter than the other. Some of this is purely sales rigging, and some is what's on the bow built in. For example a lot of manufacturers include some form of string dampening on new bows, Prime does not. If you strip those off of other bows and do apple to apple, you may scratch your head. Same with dampeners like the Ventum's shorty stabilizer. Mathews has the harmonic dampeners, they help a lot with vibration etc, but they are also added weight, but most don't consider them optional. Personally I assess if I'm comparing apples to apples or not, and how they come out of the box isn't that. I replaced the string stop on my Nexus because I didn't want to run string silencers and the factory one is a tad firm, resulting in the string rebounding and increasing felt vibration and maybe (debatable, more than anything I wanted a different feel) some noise. Put a Hi Tek on it, its killed 4 pigs at close range, looking at video not one has ducked or known their end was nigh until steel hit them. For "quietness" now I've moved on to fletching and broadheads, I personally believe most bows are at the point that those are what animals are responding to as much as the dull "thump" of the bow going off. And above all, don't shoot alert animals that are tensed up and ready to spring off like tigger.... no bow or arrow will be quiet enough.

I have shot both, ordered both (but that's a different story)
Both bows have an extremely smooth draw cycle, but the EVL34 draws "easier"
String angle like said above the N4 feels like 31-32, the EVL34 is better.
Both bows hold very well, but to me NOTHING holds like the Nexxus4 on target.
Both bows are quiet enough, The EVL34 sounds quieter to the non-shooter. Prime sounds different to the shooter.
Both bows are pretty dead in hand, neither are as dead as the V3 or Solution. But you are splitting hairs.
Both have nice grips, but to me the Prime and Elite have the 2 best grips going. I like the indent line in the front of the riser grip on the PSE.
Back walls are both solid, but the Prime is real hard.
Fit and Finish, PRIME!
Adjustability and Tuning - PSE.
Speed - The Prime is faster. (but it should be giving up 3/4" brace)
Like the multiple stabilizer bushings on the PSE.
Like the free strings on the Prime.
You can't go wrong with either.

ONLY reason I am not shooting a Nexxus 4 yet this year is because of some of the tear issues, limb swaps, etc. that I was hearing about early on.

Prime is a small company and they don't have the following of the bigger companies. While I prefer my PSE bows my Black 5 is a shooter. Even though I had a hard time holding on target because of a shoulder injury the Black 5 was still splitting VAP TKO's and destroying nocks consistantly.

If you want quiet buy a Mathews.

The Nexus 4 is stiff on the draw, it's got more shock on the shot than a Mathews. It's noticeably louder on the shot....but I STILL ordered a Nexus.

At the end of the day that thing held so damn nice I didn't care about a little bit louder or a little bit of jump on the shot (anyone who says a prime is dead dead dead is either lying or has never shot a bow that is actually "dead")

I haven't shot the EVL but I really wanted it. I love PSE. I feel like you can't go wrong with the PSE. And with the Nexus you're either going to hate it or love it. Two things that 100% are better on the Nexus than the PSE (comparing to a NXT with the same cams)...the back wall and the fit and finish.

Everything else I think the PSE does the same or better than the Nexus. WITH a personal opinion on the grip. That's probably going to be your deciding factor really

The EVL is just as quiet as a Matthews now.
