My friend is having problems with his fletching on the cock feather. The fletching gets wavey at first and his also seems to tear. I have been told that it is caused by the cock feather hitting on the rest, but it is not hitting anything. any ideas? please help

It's hitting something

Do the foot powder spray test, it has to be hitting something!

if you're shooting a shoot through rest and your arrows
are traveling over 270 fps, the cock feather down is
more than likely hitting... even when you have the arrow
sitting on the rest , if it appears to clear doesn't matter..
above 270 fps and you'll get what's called vane flap..
this is where the vane will actually lay down and flatten
out .. this is when it hits the rest and will cause the
waviness...use a blow dryer on the vane and it will
help straighten it some...

About the only thing I know to help is try a sturdier
vane or go to a drop away rest..or possibly go to
a rest where you can shoot cock feather up.. this is
sometimes better and even if the other two vanes
lay down on you, they usually won't hit the rest in
flight...... hope this helps, good shooting...
