Hello,

I'm tuning my ProTec.

I've expected that, with the narrow grip, torque would be less than the fat grip on the old PSE.
Much to my surprise, I cannot add a V-bar to compensate the weight of the sight as it was necessary with the PSE.

Without the V-bar the ProTec leans right if I just hold it in my hand but is almost level at shooting time (and leans left at shooting time with the V-bar, although it's balanced when just held).

Looks like there is grip torque.

Comments?

Thanks,

There are holes on the side.
The problem is not V-bar OR side weight, it is that any side weight IS NOT necessary due to hand torque, no matter how I try to hold the bow (low grip).

Protec and V-bar

I think he meant to say that much to his suprise he doesn't need to add the v-bar.

AK-Doug - that is correct there is no hole in the back of the riser, have to use v-bars that connect to the stabilizer bushing. Unless of course you get the type that use the tooling holes through the riser.

Jorge - I think that's why so many recommend that you try different setups and not just copy some other shooter because it works for them. I do use a v-bar with only a left side stabilizer due to the fact that at full draw without it I cant to the right. What's nice though is the bow hardly moves after the shot.

Are you saying that even though you need to add weight to the side opposite the sight to balance the bow; you cannot because of the torque generated by your grip position?

[AT sometimes is not sending me thread notifications...]

I balanced vertically both bows, the old PSE and the ProTec.
In the PSE, when I draw, the sight level is horizontal by itself.
In the ProTec, it's leaning left, and I have to compensate by turning the bow hand slightly.
If I take out the balance weight (placed at the left side of the bow), I have to compensate less.

I'm trying to undestand what is going on.
