How do you feel PSE stands as a brand with most hunters and target archers nowadays? I really feel their Mach 30 and 34 carbon bows have been a terrific addition to both segments of the archery world. The new ownership seems on board with putting PSE as a front runner. What do yall think?

Think that carbon bows SUCK as have to add more weight to them to get to hold. Also HATE the short ATA bows, won't shoot a bow under 38" ATA, they are for women & kids.

I think that the next few years will be telling for the brand. They were on the rise towards the end of the Shepley era and in my opinion they are the leader in carbon bows. However, I think most would agree that Mathews made a significant jump this year and their lightweight aluminum bows are a threat to all carbon bows. This also came in a year where PSE's aluminum bows didn't really change and they haven't significantly changed in several years. Most bows that are sold are hunting bows and most hunting bows are aluminum so success in that area will be key. Hopefully the lack of change this year was due to the ownership transition and there will be big things to come. As a current Dominator Duo and Evl 34 shooter, I'm definitely pulling for them.

Im with you on this. I had not own a PSE in 20+ years until last year with my Mach 34. I love the light bow , but a lot of people dont at first. Definitely takes some adjustments. I need to shoot some of their other bows to see how they compare as well.

I love my Mach 34. Someone was complaining about them being too light but I’d rather have a bow be too light and can put weight where I want instead of having a bow that’s too heavy and I have to worry about the weight of my sight, quiver, stabilizers etc. I think their Mach 30 (and others) is definitely helping them with integration as people want their bow to look aestheticly pleaseing with a matching quiver and inline sight. What i’m most impressed with recently is their videos they’ve been producing. As cringey as some think it may be, the video with John Dudley on the Mach 30 is a big jump as well as their American made video they posted to Instagram earlier this week. It seems like theyre really making some changes which is good to see. They produce great products

I would probably put them fourth in popularity right now behind Mathews, Hoyt, and Bowtech… I think Elite also has an argument for that spot. I also think Darton and Athens have made crazy jumps in the last few years

IMO bowtech may be slipping out of third place…. Hate to say it as I’ve owned a few. Seems like besides deadlock and timelock, they are falling behind the curve with their hunting lineup. Their “integration” is pretty bad too. Just throw picatinny and a COR mount on your bows please. Their carbon isn’t anything to write home about either. Their reckonings are pretty sweet but **** canning Tim and Kyle was a bad move for target bow sales.

I have owned a few PSE's over the past few years (including carbon) and loved them all. The cam system is one of the best and they are just great reliable and accurate bows. Almost bought another this year but ended up with a Hoyt on order. We'll see next year might be another PSE but would most likely be the aluminum version.

They're number one in my book, but I'm also a local to them and they fit me well. I'd have to agree, Mathews makes a great product and is innovating in a way that puts fierce competition into the market. All of the companies will need to stay in their game to keep sales. We'll see what PSE does over time, but for now their US made carbon bows, the Omen and their target bows are just really solid. It's great that as consumers we have these companies competing. I hope they all keep pushing the limits and we have choices.

Same here, was a Bowtech factory shooter when i was competing until 2020. I still have 4 BT's setup and sitting around. I have only shot the Mach 34 lately. Just got a Garmin Xero A1 on it. Need to finish setting up ranges.
You are better than me. After I parted ways with them I sold all my Pure Archery items and won’t own anything from them again

I have owned and liked a bunch of PSE bows over the years. Killed my first deer with a PSE and shot my first 3d tournament with an Infinity SR1000, and came in 4th.

As far as complaining about their carbons being too light, that would be me. I have owned 4 or 5 of their carbon bows, so that conclusion didn't just come on a whim. It just doesn't make sense to me to spend that much to get a light bow and then have to make it weigh about the same as an aluminum to settle it down. This is my experience and I can't fault others with opposing opinions.

It does concern me that Pete Shepley is out of the game. I don't know Pete personally, but I do believe when PSE would start to lag or have issues it was Pete to the rescue to get it back on the right track. If I were in the market for a new PSE, I would personally wait at least another year to try to get a grasp on where the brand is headed under new ownership

I don't really care for the changes to the risers on the new flagship aluminum bows. Kinda reminds me of a post Kevin Strother, Strother bow riser. The past several years of aluminum bows were good looking bows. I think the 2024's went in the wrong direction.

I agree on the lightness of the carbon bow thing. I bought a Mach 34, and I was going to use it as my everyday/TAC/3D bow, but after setting up and shooting the bow, it just didn't feel right to me. First major issue was that the light weight and it's lack of riser cutouts made the bow move around way too much in the wind while at full draw, even with a good amount of stabilizer weight on it. The other thing I didn't like was that "hollow" feel of the carbon bow when shooting for "precision", as it just didn't feel solid or substantial in my hand at all. I ended up selling the Mach 34 and getting a Fortis 33, which I liked much better. With that being said, I am considering getting a Levitate strictly as a hunting bow only because it's lighter, easier to carry, and the grip stays warm in the cold (I didn't keep the Mach 34 because I prefer a 32" ata bow for hunting). I will literally only shoot the Levitate for hunting while keeping my aluminum bows for my more "precision-based" shooting.

I think they're my favorite bows out there right now, and really enjoy their carbon offerings. As far as popularity, it's really hard to say. I shot Bowtech for many, many years, and know that It will take a lot for me to swap from a PSE or Mathews back to those guys. Hoyt has some good stuff, I just love the fact that PSE is in Tucson, and Mathews is up in Wisconsin. I'll probably be shooting one of the two brands for a long time if they keep it up.

I shoot Field and Target with a PSE Supra RTX with the less aggressive SE cam, and it suits me perfectly. A crook shoulder has me shooting a DW of just 38#, but in my Field age category I've been able to achieve #1 ranking in my state and #2 ranking in Australia. I'd be very reluctant to move to any other brand and love shooting my PSE.

I wish I knew for certain the Bowmars don’t own it.

With one particular person now seemingly gone from PSE, if the poachers don’t own it I may consider trying them now.
They ABSOLUTELY dont! LOL .They are owned by Heritage Outdoor Group, nothing to do with the blowmars at all.

I’m actually a believer in PSE not getting the credit it deserves hunting bow wise, atleast in the aluminum category. While I do believe they have the best carbons on the market , the aluminum bows are no joke.

You take ANY flagship bow manufacturer , spec to spec , pound to pound , your not beating the performance of pse and the cam offerings they have.

My PSE unite with s2 cams has a 32” ata and 6 1/4” brace height. 27.5” draw at 70lbs I’m pushing a 467 gr arrow at 276fps.

That puts me at a legitimate 348ibo. I think you’d be hard pressed to find another bow with a larger than 6” brace doing that type of speed.

The s2 cams at 27.5 are very smooth on the draw, and the back wall is excellent. I don’t think there’s a better aluminum hunting bow on the market imo.

I am looking to switch bows and know nothing about PSE, all I hear about is Matthews, Hoyt, and Bowtech but a buddy of mine told me to give PSE a serious look as their cam system is awesome, he claims. Im planning to go shoot a few brands this weekend and will definitely be looking at PSE. The input you gave has me a lot more excited about the brand. Seems as if the other brands may have just a bit more marketing behind them and may be why I do hear much about PSE? Idk, I am new to all of this. lol

Fast bows for short draw folks. I’m in. Evolve cams are smooth, but I think the Inertia cam is smooth. As far as light weight, I’m pretty sure my decree is as light as the lift at 355 ibo. Now if they would just get back into the speed game, bring back a FT or something close. All these new aluminum bows are tanks in comparison. My guess is to sell carbon bows. Love me some PSE.

would like to hear more about Athens. I have only gotten mixed reviews from folks that have shot Athens bows. I know everything is preference so any details you can share would be helpful. Even the feedback was inconsistent of what they liked and didn't
Smooth draw / uneven draw
loved/hated bow weight
component changes. it was wild
