I am brand new to compound bows, and just acquired a bow from my father in law who recently passed away. I know practically nothing about bows and looking for a manual. I called PSE but they said the bow is too old and they do not have a manual anymore.

The part number is 98101.

I just don't think the bow was set up right. One of the limb bolts was so far out, the limb was resting on part of the limb pocket (or cradle) that it would not let me bottom out the screw. That was the main problem. I was just wanting the manual just for the specs and how to adjust things on the bow. Like where the buss cable attaches to the cam, there are 2 different slots, and I am not sure what it adjusts.

Without a bow press, I wouldn't try to adjust anything other than tightening the limb bolts. You can find the specs here: compoundbowchoice.com/brands/pse/nova/specs/

Might want to post some pics too. Any problems could be spotted that way.

I have a field press that I used to get the limb corrected but that is all I have done so far. I am not sure what the 2 slots on the cam do for the cables, and I am not sure if the cable should be on this side of the cable guard and the slide is missing a part, or if the cable should be on the other side of the guard.

You have eccentrics rather than cams and the cables go on the outside of the rod. The slide is not missing a part and the side opposite your cable grooves slides on the rod. The rod is angled so you can loosen and adjust it so there is enough clearance to keep your fletching from hitting the cables. The more you turn the rod the more torque you put on the riser, which is bad. The different slots for the cable may be for different draw lengths.

That is a synergy cam, not positive which version, the slots for cableas and strings adjust draw length and to a lesser degree draw weight.

On the string side the center slot is the zero so to speak, whatever is marked on the limb if the sticker is still there, not positive on the cable side which is the factory zero setting it's been a while since I have seen one.

Cable and string should be in the same slots on each cam, each string slot will add or subtract 1/4 or 1?2 inch at a time from zero. Cables probably half inch.

Cable slide should be on outside of rod, and sett so there is just enough clearance for your vanes.

Post a pic of the spec. sticker on the limb and we can give more details.

Those cams are solid shooters!

the cables not being in the same slot on both cams my be why the limb bolts are so mismatched. it sounds to me that the previous owner did not know the cables had to be in the same slot and he was trying to get the bow to shoot by adjusting tiller,....which in the case of the slots not being matched.... will never happen. you'll need a press to fix that, so the best thing to do is take your bow to a shop, if you don't have one. the Nova was a decent mid range bow in it's day and perfectly fine today yet, just don't expect it to have the speed that today's bows have.

Looks like a 1997ish model with steel cables.
I think yours has the Vector 4 cams. If so, it should show V4T on the top cam & V4B on the bottom.
There may also me a single digit number that will give the cam size. It's been awhile since I have shot one of those Nova bows and can't seem to remember for sure.
Your PSE looks like it was hardly used from looking at the pics.(y)
