Last year I put a 4x lens on my 5 pin sight to help see what I'am shooting at, now a fellow bow hunter said it's not legal in Colorado to hunt with a scope.I say it's not a scope it's a lens,he talked to some at the DOW and he said they said if it magnifies what you look at it's a scope.anybody have any input?Thanks for your time.John...

Technically,
a scope has two parts:

Scope Housing (metal tube)
Scope Lens (magnifying glass).

The essential part is the magnifying glass.

So, if you add a lens to a pin sight,
you essentially are doing the same thing a
traditional scope does,
which is to create a magnified image.

I would bet the game laws don't say "scope". They probably specifically mention any magnifying device or lens. A scope is quite an ambiguous term.

Hmmm then that is open to interpretation which means you the hunter will always be in the wrong when Mr. Game Warden comes around. You really should call your local or district office and find out about that and then have them send you something in writing....just in case.
