All you should have to do is swap out the chip. Is it a 3 or 4 wire hack? I have a S40 chip for a 3 wire hack I will swap you for the S600.

it's a 4 wire hack. i hacked the cam and since then the external batteries never seemed to work. the coin battery in the cam doesn't work, and now i believe there are loose wires somewhere.

why not open it up and redo the hack, the best part of homebrews is the customer service from the manufacturer :D

S600 is a much better camera than s40 you should try to fix the s600 open it and fix the hack.
