I'm not a fan of having my rangefinder hanging around my neck but I like it class and handy. Who uses some kind of retractable tether or lanyard? Second part of the puzzle is one that also has a cover to keep the elements off the eyepiece when the rangefinder is hanging idle.

I keep mine in a pouch on the front of belt. However, most of the time I keep my one pin sight set at 25 yards to shoot from zero to 30. After 30 I'll use range finder. If I have time. In the thick woods I hunt your lucky to see past 30 and it happens so quick grabbing a range finder is a rarity.

I use a rangefinder lanyard from Hillside Custom here on AT. Wear it across my body and have the rangefinder tucked underneath my right arm. I am able to quickly grab it and range then slide it back under when I am done. It does not move around or slide. Have used a pouch and retractable tether before and honestly this is faster and stays out of the way for me. Being under my arm adds protection from the elements.

Yeah, I've always thought that would be a good solution especially stalking. Do you have a link to these?

I just use the short tether that came with it - then attach it to my KUIU bino harness per Dudley's recommendation - all good and no issues with dirt getting on the lenses.

I use a piece of D-Loop material tied between the buckle on my bino harness and the range finder. All you have to do is set the length so the range finder can reach its pouch and your eye. Everything is nice and compact.

I have a neck tether but keep the rangefinder in the large left front pocket of my jacket when not in use.
