I assume he's talking about a permeant stand location, not one you're setting up to hunt right then.

I always put a ratchet strap on hang ons, I can never get the pull tight straps that come with the stands tight enough.

I use 2 ratchet straps on all my lock ons. Might be overkill but they are sturdy and not going anywhere.

I wear a linemans rig when I am hanging mine, no problem.
Have you trie the easy hang hook from LW?

I suppose if you just want to hang it and leave it for the season a ratchet strap would be fine. I don't care to use them personally.

Leave the platform elevated when tightening the strap. As the platform is lowered. this cinches the strap.
There's been times I've had to loosen the strap just to get the platform down.
Just as secure as any ratchet strap imo.

Been using ratchet straps on hang on stands for over 30+ years & never had a problem with them.

Hang the stand, make sure your tied in to your harness and kneel of the seat. Reach back with one foot and lift the platform up and let it down then stand up. I like to use a double strap on top of stands I leave out all year but a ratchet is not needed to get stand tight.

Lone Wolf stands are easy to tighten no need for a rachet strap. Some of my older stands I might use one.
