Leave the platform elevated when tightening the strap. As the platform is lowered. this cinches the strap.
There's been times I've had to loosen the strap just to get the platform down.
Just as secure as any ratchet strap imo.
Hang the stand, make sure your tied in to your harness and kneel of the seat. Reach back with one foot and lift the platform up and let it down then stand up. I like to use a double strap on top of stands I leave out all year but a ratchet is not needed to get stand tight.
Lone Wolf stands are easy to tighten no need for a rachet strap. Some of my older stands I might use one.
