I can't remember the last time I went anywhere without my pistol, and I do not anticipate doing so any time in the future.
Better to have it and not need it then need it and not have it

I don't carry one, it's illegal here in South Dakota, but the only reason I would carry one is because of mt. lions. But I think that you wouldn't have time to mess with a pistol anyway. I think that if a cat is actually "hunting" you, your days are numbered. But that is different than bumping into one on a trail, which I belive the cat would probably just haul @ss out of there.

It's legal here in VA (I carry a Para Ordnance .45ACP) and will be carrying while bowhunting. I chose "Wolves" in the poll, because there wasn't a choice for Coyotes. We have tons of Coyotes in the mountains and they reek havoc on game species and populations.

My last trip to Montana in 2003 my guide started carrying after we “ran into” a black bear that had buried an elk carcass in the area we were hunting. We also talked to some loggers who had an encounter with a grumpy bear in the area. The bear had treed one of the loggers. During the trip we had several encounters with the bear one of them before daylight.

Note:
The elk had been killed by another hunter not the bear.

I don't carry one for any particular reason....when I use it I'll have figured out justification for it.

I'm including drunks and drug users in general with Meth cookers. Also have been some reports of problems with wild packs of dogs in a couple areas I hunt.

Mtn. Lions and snakes are one thing.....but a Texas bobcat isn't much to be afraid of....especially since they are nocturnal 95% of the time.

Its still "nocturnal" when I'm walking to my stand. The other 5% accounts for the two I saw in broad daylight last year.
