My last trip to Montana in 2003 my guide started carrying after we “ran into” a black bear that had buried an elk carcass in the area we were hunting. We also talked to some loggers who had an encounter with a grumpy bear in the area. The bear had treed one of the loggers. During the trip we had several encounters with the bear one of them before daylight.
