That is a really messed up state Rack. :( They allow people to grow? One plant should be illegal. I would be packing there law or no law.

It's legal here in VA (I carry a Para Ordnance .45ACP) and will be carrying while bowhunting. I chose "Wolves" in the poll, because there wasn't a choice for Coyotes. We have tons of Coyotes in the mountains and they reek havoc on game species and populations.
I chose Black Bears but only because Coyotes weren't listed either...
I carry the Glock model 20 10mm. In my opinion it's the ultimate all around handgun. The 10mm is = to the 41 magnum and in the Glock model 20 you can get the 15 capacity clip. I usually use Cor-Bon 150 gr. bullets but in bear country or when I was in Africa (when it was legal) I load up with Cor-Bon 200gr. penetrators. I have killed lots of big hogs, a fallow buck, numerous goats and other critters with this handgun. Above all, it's worked exceptional for an automatic.
With all these posts it makes me glad I live in Illinois. I aint scared of coyotes and if I want to harvest one I'll use my bow, Im more acurate with it. I saw a bobcat last year 20 yards from my stand when I climbed down, startled me then it took off. And the meth cooks or pot farmers I probably know being I live in a tiny town. So I have no need to carry a gun with me. Heck I walk to the stand most mornings with the flashlight still in the truck.

If I lived out west that would be a different story, them big kitties freak me out.

If you are scared of coyotes or bobcats you dont need to be in the woods.
I know that in M N, They do have conceal and carry. Couldn't a person fall under that?
24/7 Because...

I live in a Shall Issue state, TX. However I worry more when I am driving around Dallas about getting car jacked or robbed, etc.. I worry less in the woods but I am always prepared.

Meth heads, Coke runners in South Texas, and Poachers/Tresspassers. Everyone knows (or should know) that a poacher will more than likely do whatever they have to do to not get caught.
Packs of uncollared dogs running area.

Ever look up from cleaning a deer and have 6 german shepard mix breds approaching you with snarls on face and hair up on back of their necks.

My 9mm now goes with me any time I am on this place.
Snakes in texas, only the pioson ones. we leave the others alone
“Wish we could carry in Minnesota, the laws sucks here. I know lots of people that carry reguardless of the laws. I'm not a criminal or want to become one so I don't carry. If the law ever change I would carry one in an instant. I would carry it for personal protection from 2 legged trouble makers. I don't really needed it for any of the animals here.” BY TWOLF

“I know that in M N, They do have conceal and carry. Couldn't a person fall under that?” by ASAT

Here is the scoop on the whole mess in MN. The DNR says NO firearms allowed when hunting deer by archery and this is to include those with a permit. The Minnesota Citizens' Personal Protection Act of 2003 says exactly were you can and cannot carry on your permit. No here is where it gets “muddy” here is a cut and paste from the MCPA Subd. 23. Exclusivity. This section sets forth the
complete and exclusive criteria and procedures for the issuance
of permits to carry and establishes their nature and scope. No
sheriff, police chief, governmental unit, government official,
government employee, or other person or body acting under color
of law or governmental authority may change, modify, or
supplement these criteria or procedures, or limit the exercise
of a permit to carry.

So what we have is one part of the government not wanting to let the other make the rules. The DNR was saying… for awhile….. at least…. you couldn’t carry in the state parks( park rule 6100.0800 ). Until the squeeze was put on them and the DNR decided to follow the law. What this breaks down to is under the letter of the STATE Carry law IF YOU HAVE a permit you would be legal. DNR law says no you can’t. State law trumps DNR law. You get ticketed fined the DNR takes away your birthday. You go to court spend big $$$$ to prove the law you were following was legal and the DNR’s no pistol allowed law was against the law and you win. Even better yet concealed means concealed…… Test cases are for someone else.

SORRY ABOUT THE THREAD HYJACK.

2nd amendment

The 2nd amendment right pretty much sums it up
The freedom to bear arms
to protect you and your families well being
Illegal in TN to carry a firearm or be accompanied by anyone carrying a firearm on any archery hunt...even bear. Not very comforting.

Don't you know that we have the big kitties here in Illinois? I live in alton and they have been spotted in Jerseyville and Bunker Hill for several years now. DNR won't confirm this but they are here and yes I do carry a .45 revolver.

Since I seem to be the only person who likes snakes here, lol

If you leave a snake alone, it will more than likely do the same to you.

I would guess about 80-90% of the time, no matter where you are hunting, the snakes you will run into would be non-venomous and harmless.

If you are walking to or from a stand and happen upon a snake and it takes an aggressive posture, it is just doing what comes naturally. It knows it can't outrun you, it knows you are MUCH bigger than it, about the only defense it has left is to put on a good show to scare you away or as a last resort turn to biting.
