So I have been wanting to make a bow for a while now. I finally decided to go out and identify the species of tree in the woods behind my house. There are tons and I mean tons of Red Maple Trees(Kind of explains why there are so many deer in the woods :)) There are a few hickory trees but I decided I want to use Red Maple. I plan on making a flat bow with a slight recurve and a consistent width to mid limb then taper it down from there. Aiming for a 45 - 55# draw weight at 28 inches. What dimensions would be best to accomplish this? 2inches at the fades to mid limb than 1/2 inch at the tip? or since I am backing the bow can I go thinner? I want this bow to be about 62 - 64 inches in length. Any and all help is welcome.

ITT: Best Bow dimensions for this bow to reach the desired draw weight without snapping the limbs?
