Hi c5ken,
As mentioned by Norw, for Red Stag free range hunting you must head for Argentina. If you are going w a bow you should contact us at www.bowhuntinginargentina.com
Our main stag ranch is Poitahue hunting Ranch and its located at La Pampa. Close encounters during roar/rut time ( march-april ). Lots of successful bowhunters can backup our services and success rates. We can contact u with some of our US clients so you can talk to them.
Let me know if you want to know more about our bowhunting programs.

New Zealand. Their trophy quality is unmatched. The only thing I didn't like about NZ (can't speak for Argentina) is for bow hunters there was a lot of baiting.

Argentina woods at La Pampa province also offers good stag trophies... probably no so so huge like NZ cause La Pampa its free range (not like most NZ). Other important aspect is that there is no price scale by size. If you spot a monster its your day and with no extras regarding SCI points. Full week pack with a trophy stag ni size limit. That good? Yes. :D
Have some representative pictures of Poitahue Ranch stags.

Red stag in Argentina just do not have the crowns that they do in New Zealand. At least that is my impression from what I see on television and what I saw in New Zealand. However yes a lot of things are high fence in New Zealand. Of course after that experience, I would argue anything over 30,000 acres makes high fence irrelevant. We were after one specific fallow deer and we only saw him once during the entire ten-day trip I was in New Zealand. This was a 60,000 acre ranch. And we hunted hard for him.

I always chuckle at the high fence conversation. I think many do not understand that high fence is not about keeping the animals in. It's about keeping the riffraff out.

I agree in some way with the free ranging concept. Having a 33k acres fence wont assure a specific trophy. But dont forget that deer density is also very important when talking about fences and success rate. Its not the same a 30k acres containing thousands of excellent genetic stags than a 30k section with free range density of about 100 mature stags in between other management stags.
Odds are part of hunting. Its a fact that fenced sections will improve odds on hunters side... I can stand with that extra help but if i have to choose I will go for free range land w good management program. I guess its because I feel its more challenging.

Hi,
Those are free range stags. Poitahue hunting manages more than 70k acres of truly free range land.
We do have other ranch at 1,5 hs drive called El Monasterio which is a fenced ranch. Aimed for big big trophies like NZ.
Such stags are much massive like this pic

We do have bow only weeks at Poitahue ranch.
The firsts 2 weeks of the season. This is early march. Firsts hunters to walk the woods.

Is it spot and stalk or over baits? IMO baits make it to easy, and boring. I would argue it's harder to spot and stalk a high fence ranch than it is to sit over free range baits.
